  • Umpire Sunman (ALTERNATE) (ump_sunman ALTERNATE) - replaced Sun2man on July 28, 2021.[8]
  • Umpire Possum (ump_possum) - Appeared September 15, 2021. Highly active.[9]
  • Umpire Iron (ump_iron) - Appeared December 8, 2021. Only spoke on that date, and only in emoji.[10]
  • Umpire Teenth (ump_teenth) - Exists but has not spoken as of January 22, 2022.
  • Umpire Moon (ump_moon) - First mentioned by other users October 26, 2022 and mentions "stealth umps" - notably not a part of the Slugger or Groundskeeper groups on Discord as previous Umps have been.[11]
  • Umpire Bug (ump_bug) - seems to have been activated as an Ump on October 26,2022. Like Moon, is not a part of Slugger or Groundskeeper groups and therefore is "stealth" in the Discord userlist.[12]
  • Umpire Notes (ump_notes) - activated as an Ump on October 26,2022. Stealth Ump. Previously SLUGGER/KEEPER NOTES[13]
  • Umpire Classic (ump_classic) - This is Ump Steel, was renamed sometime during the Grand Grand Siesta of 2021-2022. Did not speak so this was not detected.
  • Umpire Blood (ump_blood) - Appeared October 28th, 2022[14]. Has given cryptic hints / commentary about the Falls.[15] Calls Parker MacMillan (the original) "the ruiner."[16]

  • Umpire Husky (ump_husky) - Deceased as of September 25, 2020. Season 8, Day 94, backfire due to Iffy Jr. Was an original Umpire of Blaseball and opened the rules channel.[17]
  • Umpire Raúl - Deceased as of October 11, 2020[18]. Season 9 Elections. The Dale won the New Kid blessing, backfiring due to Iffy Jr.
  • Umpire Sunman (ump_admin_pope_sunman) - Banned from the Discord as of December 4, 2020[19]
  • Umpire Dog - Deceased as of March 8, 2021[20]. Season 13, Day 1, backfire due to Fireproof Mummy Melcon. Supposedly had huge Ego according to ump_trash2.[21]

  • Umpire Ravioli (ump_ravioli) - Appeared December 8, 2020.[23] Disappeared after June 24, 2021.[24]. Likely to be Umpire Unknown 3, 4, 5, 7, or 8.
  • Umpire Unknown (name not given)[25] - Deceased as of June 18, 2021. Season 20, Day 99, backfire due to Fireproof Mooney Doctor II. This mod came from an item which had only been repaired 21 days beforehand.

Classes of Umpires

There are multiple kinds of umpires that can be seen during Blaseball games, each with different effects on the game. According to The Book as of Season 2, umpires normally work in crews. It can be assumed a crew is made up of different types of umpires.

Generic Umpires

Generic umpires are an informal designation for umpires who are present in every single match of Blaseball, arbitrating rules and adjudicating the game. Generic umpires' presence in every match seems to be necessary; either by rulebook or by divine law.

Generic umpires can appear during gameplay. For example, a Player with Psychic can perform a Mind Trick upon striking out, causing an umpire to send them to first base.

Rogue Umpires

Upon the Opening of the Forbidden Book at the end of Season β1, umpires were described as having their "eyes turn white." From this point forward, Rogue Umpires could appear in Solar Eclipse games and incinerate a Blaseball player at will. Rogue Umpires are the first class of umpires with the ability to affect players to appear in Blaseball.

Rogue Umpires gained the ability to incinerate entire teams during Supernova Eclipse weather in Season β24. In Season 2, Rogue Umpires would gain the ability to rule in favor of players, boosting their attributes. Currently, the Rogue Umpires operate only in Solar Eclipse (Blue) weather.

Bard Umpires

The Bard Umpires made their debut in Season 1 with the Reopening of the Forbidden Book. Bard Umpires have the ability to Curse players with modifications during Solar Eclipse (Gold) weather, though this can be dodged by targeted players. They can also rule in favor of players, boosting their attributes.

Mage Umpires

The Mage Umpires made their debut in Season 1 with the Reopening of the Forbidden Book. Mage Umpires have the ability to Alternate players during Solar Eclipse (Red) weather. They can also rule in favor of players, boosting their attributes.

Knight Umpires

The Knight Umpires made their debut in Season 1 with the Reopening of the Forbidden Book. Knight Umpires have the ability to Swear at players and send them on a Side Quest during Solar Eclipse (Silver) weather, though this can be parried by targeted players. They can also rule in favor of players, boosting their attributes.

Crew of Umpires

A group of 4 Umpires that appeared after the Season 1 elections and the re-opening of the Forbidden Book. Each appears to correspond to a different division in the League. It was revealed during Season 2 that the crew of Umpires consists of the Bard Umpire, Knight Umpire, Mage Umpire, and Rogue Umpire. The crew of Umpires appeared to review play and herald a Tournament of Champions to choose a new Ace to lead the League.
