The ILB Historical Preservation Site (commonly referred to as the Vault) is a location where Legendary Players and Items are sent to be Preserved by the Historian, and is also the home Ballpark of the Vault Legends. It was first referred to in the Based Evolution text in Season 12. Fans could Navigate to it during Season 24, where it was located at (1, 1). It is related to Blaseball 2, but the specifics of the connection are unknown.

The Vault is managed by Lootcrates as part of their job as the Historian. Any player that is Preserved is put into the Vault with the Legendary Modification, where they remain for a presumably infinite amount of time and can no longer be acted upon by Fans. Any attempts to remove a player from the Vault via non-sanctioned methods (such as preemptive Wills) instead produces a Replica. However, this does not mean it is completely impossible to escape - Roamin and Super Roamin players can Roam out of the Vault as demonstrated by Parker MacMillan, and the Vault Swap Blessing in Season 23 allowed a Player to be swapped with a random Preserved player.

As a Ballpark, the Vault notably has very low Fortification and very high Mysticism, promoting Weather and Modification activation within it. Additionally, it has the modifications Climate Control, Weather Reports, and Cycling all of which combined to create a different scenario every inning during the Semi-Centennial.

The first Preserved players were Nagomi Mcdaniel and York Silk in Season 18. In the following Seasons, any Player that reached Legendary status from the Idol Board was Preserved and placed in the Vault. The first Preserved Item was the Iffey Jr., which was Preserved upon Raúl Leal's Incineration during Season 15 - however, it is not visible within the Vault on the website.

Season 23 featured the ILB Semi-Centennial, in which the Vault acted as the Ballpark for the home team, the Vault Legends. Notably, despite the it being created to encourage Weather events, only one occurred - Vessalius Sundae draining Parker MacMillan during an inning with Blooddrain.

During Season 24, Fans could Navigate their Team to the Vault, notably placed where Blaseball 2 used to be on the Depth Chart and the icon for it featuring the Blaseball 2 door. The first team to reach the Vault was the Atlantis Georgias on Day 58, and were greeted by Lootcrates saying the following:

<blockquote class="lootcrates">

"At the Final Out<br/>

"Awaiting Sacrifice"<br/>

"Affording Scoring Position"<br/>

Upon reaching the Vault, Teams were all given the Force Modification, preventing them from moving any more on the Map. Additionally, they were spared from Nullification. These Teams are listed in the following table, given alongside the date they gained the Modification.

The Immaterial Plane is the name of the plane on which Blaseball occurs. It was first referred to in the Season 1 Blaseball Beat.

Overview

History

Prehistory

It is unknown when the Immaterial Plane first formed, or if it has always existed. The first recorded instance of activity in it is in The First Day, Zeroth Edition.

Expansion Era

During the Latesiesta of Season 12, the Coin flipped the Immaterial Plane with the following announcement:

EMERGENCY ALERT
BREACH DETECTED
FLOOD WARNING
THE COIN FLIPS
OVER UNDER
UNDER OVER
IMMATERIA MATERIA
EMERGENCY ALERT

From this announcement on out, the Immaterial Plane and its Depth Chart graph were reflected over its x-axis, placing Blaseball 0 at the top and Blaseball 2 at the bottom. However, this was not known until the unveiling of the Depth Chart in Season 20, and it took even longer to realize that it was ever flipped in the first place, as this was the first time that the Plane had been visually shown to Fans.

Right before the Season 23 Election, the Plane was reflected back to its standard position:

EMERGENCY ALERT
EXECUTIVE ACTION
THE COIN FLIPS
OVER OVER
UNDER UNDER

It remained in its Depth Chart form until Season 24's Earlsiesta, when the Map was unveiled. Following this, Teams could navigate the Plane under their own power for the remainder of the season, with the goal of reaching one of the corners of the Map. On Day 82 of the season, Black Hole (Black Hole) began to expand, eventually leading to the complete Nullification of the Plane, and with it, Blaseball itself.

Trivia

 • It is unknown whether the Immaterial Plane resides purely within two-dimensional space or if it is a plane within a higher dimension. Notably, if the latter is true, eDensity's mechanics involving buoyancy imply that it is not parallel to the xy-plane as would be assumed for most planar universes.
