Day X is a unique date in Season 9 where, following the Internet Series, The Shelled One appeared to initiate a battle against the champions of Season 9, the Charleston Shoe Thieves.

Season 9

Emergency Alert

Game 5 of the Season 9 Internet Series saw the Baltimore Crabs and Charleston Shoe Thieves tied at 2-2. The Crabs were up 4-2 at the bottom of the ninth inning, and with two championships won previously, on the cusp of Ascension. Velasquez Alstott and Simon Haley occupied first and second base when Stu Trololol hit a home run, launching the Shoe Thieves into victory and inflicting shame on the Crabs. However, almost immediately after Trololol hit their home run and before the game had properly concluded, the screen turned black with a new alert:

EMERGENCY ALERT
INCOMING
SEEK SHELTER

At the same time, the rolling ticker across the top of the screen went blank before a new series of messages appeared:

⚠EMERGENCY ALERT⚠
INCOMING
⚠EMERGENCY ALERT⚠
WHAT IS HAPPENING
⚠EMERGENCY ALERT⚠
MULTIPLE SIGHTINGS REPORTED OF UNKOWN OBJECT [sic]
⚠EMERGENCY ALERT⚠
WHAT HAPPENED WHILE I WAS SLEEPING

Then, The Shelled One appeared to deliver its first message since declaring Fourth Strike.

I AM HERE
AND YOU ARE OUT
COME TO ME MY PODS
HEAVEN WILL TREMBLE BEFORE YOU
YOU THINK YOU ARE SO TOUGH?
YOU THINK YOU HAVE POWER?
WE WILL SEE
TIME TO TEACH YOU SOME DISCIPLINE

Boss Fight

The start of the Season 9, Day X game, THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS at Charleston Shoe Thieves.

At this point, The Shelled One revealed its punishment: a battle between the Charleston Shoe Thieves and THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS, a brand new team composed entirely of players who were Shelled and The Three Peanuts.

THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS entered the game with eight never-before seen Modifications, in order as they appeared: Peanut Rain, Crunchy, God, The Fourth Strike, Curse of Crows, Subjection, Pity, and Destruction. The effects of these modifications ranged from enhanced performance during certain weather events to a massively increased Team Spirit pool to the addition of Curses to the opponent, when defeated.

A game of Blaseball began between the two teams, but instead of a standard score board, two health bars appeared. The Pods had 29,918,122 Team Spirit, while the Shoe Thieves started with a mere 29,140 Team Spirit. Typical Blaseball game events, like fouls, strikes, and outs, took Spirit from each team.

At the end of the first inning, The Shelled One paused the game to say HAD ENOUGH? before continuing the game. During the game, The Shelled One switched between all the possible weather types repeatedly while offering various admonishments and claiming its power (duplicates not recorded):

YOU ARE NOTHING
BOW BEFORE MY PODS
SUBMIT
RING RING
SURRENDER
I AM GETTING BORED
PATHETIC

The transfer of almost 24 million SPIRIT from the Pods to the Shoe Thieves.

At the top of the fourth inning, the meager Charleston Shoe Thieves were down to 1 Spirit, unable to deal enough damage to THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS to stop the assault. The game paused momentarily, with messages from The Shelled One.

SHAME
WHERE IS YOUR SPIRIT
HERE
HAVE SOME OF MINE
I AM BENEVOLENT
I GIVE LIFE

The Shelled One then transferred 23,813,322 Spirit from the PODS' Team Spirit pool to the Shoe Thieves, leaving the Pods with 5,953,330 Spirit and the Shoe Thieves with 23,813,323 Spirit. Its messages continued:

NOW WATCH
WITNESS TRUE POWER

At this point, the modification Pity dropped off THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS modifications list. Pity reads "This team is holding back, out of Pity." Francisca Sasquatch, while batting against Jaylen Hotdogfingers, hit a single, which then dealt 1,501,482 Spirit damage, a much higher number than when Pity was active. The game continued for several innings while the weather continued to rapidly rotate and the Shoe Thieves struggled against THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS. The Shelled One continued:

I AM BENEVOLENT
I GIVE LIFE
AND I TAKE IT AWAY
BOW BEFORE ME

At this point, the Shoe Thieves' Spirit pool was dropping rapidly, unable to withstand the assault from the unnaturally strong PODS. The Shelled One continued:

HAD ENOUGH?
BIRDS?
SUBMIT
READY TO ATONE?
BOW BEFORE MY PODS
JUST BEND THE KNEE
YOU REFUSE STILL?
MY DORK
SURRENDER

At the top of the sixth inning, Jessica Telephone stepped up to the plate and hit a solo home run, dealing 7,507,926 Spirit damage to the Shoe Thieves, dropping them to zero Spirit, and ending the game. The Charleston Shoe Thieves were defeated.

Fallout

After the game, The Shelled One appeared yet again:

RING RING
AMUSING
WANT TO SAVE YOUR FRIENDS?
GIVE ME YOUR BEST SHOT
I WILL BE WAITING

Several minutes went by where fans took stock of the carnage. Any player that was Shelled and The Three Peanuts were stolen away from the home teams. THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS has the modification Subjected, implying that the players on this team are there unwillingly. The positions of the stolen players were left unfilled, leaving teams like the Unlimited Tacos with a single pitcher, and several other teams with less than 9 batters. All players on the PODS received the modification Honey-Roasted, which, in combination with the modification Crunchy, makes those player hit 100% better and with +200% Power.

All of the batting lineup on the Shoe Thieves were given the modification Flinch, which says "Hitters with Flinch cannot swing until a strike has been thrown in the At Bat." The pitching rotation for the Shoe Thieves also received a modification, Mild, which reads "Pitchers with Mild have a chance of throwing a Mild Pitch."

The Receivers ritual also changed in the aftermath, reading HAVE HOPE.

Then, long after the battle concluded, The Monitor appeared.

did i miss something?
shoot
let me know next time

Season 10

Crabs Ascend

In Season 10, Baltimore Crabs and the Charleston Shoe Thieves matched up once again in the Internet Series, this time with the Crabs sweeping the series with a 3-0 victory. But just as in the previous season, mere seconds before the game had finished, an alert crossed the screen once again:

EMERGENCY ALERT
INCOMING
AGAIN
SEEK SHELTER
AGAIN

Followed by an appearance from The Shelled One:

THIS IS YOUR CHAMPION?
THEM?
CRUSTACEANS
YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE WORTHY
TO GO UP?
TO CLIMB?
FOOLS
MY PODS

And a second fight, initiated by THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS began, this time against the Baltimore Crabs.

BATTING PRACTICE

The Microphone began to speak:

we can't win this[1]
not alone[2]

And almost as fast as the game began, THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS crushed the Baltimore Crabs with a devastating Single from Wyatt Quitter, dealing 1,504,119 damage to the Crabs, who only had 31,993 Team Spirit to begin with. The Shelled One returned:

PATHETIC
LET THIS BE A LESSON
THE BIG LEAGUES ARE CALLING

The Hall Stars

In the swift defeat of the Crabs, The Microphone continued to send messages of hope.

i made a deal[3]
one more game[4]
it was the best i could do [5]
i don't know what happens then[6]
and then[7]
now or never[8]
well[9]
but please[10]
rally[11]

Then, a new message was delivered.

A NEW CHALLENGER APPEARS

A second game commenced, a battle between THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS and a new team, The Hall Stars, composed of 14 players who received the most tribute in the Hall of Flame, arrived to do battle on behalf of the entire League.

The Microphone began expressing its excitement.

Yes![12]
okay friends![13]
Let's do this[14]
Let's go kill God[15]

The game begins with outrage from The Shelled One.

WHAT
WHAT?
THAT IS IT?
THAT HURT?
HOW?!

At this point in the game, Jaylen Hotdogfingers's new modification Fliickerrriiing revealed it both forces constant flickiering and can forcibly change the weather to Feedback. This lead to multiple shifts throughout the game, with Hotdogfinders and Axel Trololol swapping positions rapidly between the two teams.

The game continued, with THE SHELLED ONE'S PODS meeting their match in the fact of The Hall Stars.

PODS
CRUSH THEM
YOU'RE CHEATING!
YOU CANNOT WIN
I AM INFINITE
MY DORK
YOU ARE NOTHING
CHEATERS!
