This is a list of Templates you may find useful while editing the Blaseball Wiki. These are often easy shorthands for various icons, categories, or links used for maintenance around the Wiki.

General use cases are suggested but feel free to use these where ever they might be useful!

Source Editor markup is listed, to add these templates while using the Visual Editor you can either type "{{" to click Insert > Template on the top toolbar, search for the Template using its name, and fill it out using the Visual Editor's Template window. For more basic markup help, visit this link!


Color

Colors text. Colour also works when calling it.

Use:
{{ Color | [Color] | [Text] }}

[Color] accepts basic color names or #[Hexcode] i.e. "#111111" or just "111111".

Example:

{{Color|red|Hello!!}} = Hello!!

{{Colour|7071c2|Hello!!}} = Hello!!


Cite

Generates a [citation needed] notice.

Use:
{{Cite}}

Example:
This information needs to be cited. {{Cite}}  =  This information needs to be cited. [citation needed]


Community Lore

Generates the Community Lore banner. Use this above any section of an article that contains fan lore you or your team have created outside of the facts of the game!

Use:

Deadlink

Generates dead link text. Use Template:Deadlink when you want something to look like a deadlink, but you don't want to confuse people who click on it. It looks like a red/deadlink, but will redirect to Help:Deadlinks or a page of your choosing.

Use:

Use the first parameter for the text.

The second parameter is optional! You can use it to customize what page you want to redirect to, instead of Help:Deadlinks.

Example:
Item 1 {{Deadlink|the text you want}} Item 2 {{Deadlink|the text you want but with a link|Richmond Harrison}} Item 3

generates:

Item 1 the text you want Item 2 the text you want but with a link Item 3


Dt

Generates a dot with spaces around it. Useful spacing things out in a horizontal list, mainly in the case of Navboxes.

Use:
{{Dt}}

Example:
Item 1 {{Dt}} Item 2 {{Dt}} Item 3

generates:

Item 1   路   Item 2   路   Item 3



Forbidden Knowledge

Generates a banner warning of upcoming content that is Forbidden Knowledge, information gained from the code of Blaseball that may spoil future content.

Use:

HexCode

Generates a HexCode using text colored the given hexcode color. Useful for team colors.

Use:
{{ HexCode | [hex code] }}

Example:
{{HexCode|c02cd1}} = #c02cd1

{{HexCode|2cc7d1}} = #2cc7d1


Infoboxes

Infoboxes are very common templates found on many pages, so they should look very familiar! They're the boxes on the right-hand side of the page with all the quick facts. We have quite a few infobox templates you can use for various page types, so they're all listed here!

Each has a wide variety of different information parameters, far too many to list here, so visit the link on each to see a full list of parameters! The Visual Editor does a great job of listing all of the parameters you can fill in when Inserting a template. Source Editor markup is listed on each infobox's link as well!

Modif

Generates the name and icon for a Modification. Useful for the "modifications" section on Player and Team infoboxes.

Use:
{{ Modif | [modification name (lowercase)] | [Number of season] }}

If season is inapplicable, just leave it blank.

Navboxes are boxes used at the bottom of a page that link to various other articles related to the one the box is being used on.

Random number

Generates a random number including 0. RandomNumber also works when calling.

Use:
{{Random number | [count] | [seed] | [prime] }}

  • All parameters are optional and have default values. They must be integers.
  • [count] is the max number. The default [count] is 100 (so by default, this template generates values between 0 and 99) and must be non-zero.
  • The default [seed] is {{#time:z}} (currently 256, i.e. the current day number in the year, at the time this page was last saved or purged from the cache) and can be set to any other integer value (used to generate distinct values on the same page).
  • The default [prime] is 67 and should be a prime number above 17 (used to generate distinct values on the same page).


Example:

  • {{Random number}} = 29 (default, gives values between 0 and 99)
  • {{Random number|1000}} = 729 (second and third digit are the same as above)
  • {{Random number|1000}} = 729 (same page load, same output)
  • {{Random number|1000|256|67}} = 729 (same as above)
  • {{Random number|1000|256|61}} = 795 (this and others should all be different)

Shelled

Generates the Shelled stamp from the Blaseball site. (Can't be placed over the top of text). Useful for Team rosters.
Use:

A Shelled player is {{Shelled}} = A Shelled player is  Shelled stamp.png



Spoiler

Generates text that is obscured with a black bar until clicked, mimicking the function on discord. Useful for "redacted" information.
Use:

Star Rating

Generates stars. Useful for player stat ratings.

Use:
{{Star Rating | [star count] }}

Accepts whole numbers and decimals with ".1".

Example:
{{Star Rating|2}} =

TeamSelector

Links to a Team. Can add an emoji at the end if you want.

Use:
{{TeamSelector | [team name] | emoji }}

emoji is optional, will add a teams emoji after the name.

Team name can be full or common shorthands.

Example:
{{TeamSelector|dale}} = Miami Dale

{{TeamSelector|tigers|emoji }} = Hades Tigers 馃悈



TeamNameSelector

Generates a link to a team.

Use:
{{TeamNameSelector|[team name]}}

Team name can be full or common shorthands.

Example:
{{TeamNameSelector|dale}} = Miami Dale

{{TeamNameSelector|tigers}} = Hades Tigers


TeamCategorySelector

Adds a page to a given team's category. Useful for Player or Team Lore pages.

Use:
{{TeamCategorySelector|[team name]}}

Team name can be full or common shorthands.

Example:
{{TeamCategorySelector|dale}} = [[Category:Miami Dale]]

{{TeamCategorySelector|tigers}} = [[Category:Hades Tigers]]



FormerTeamCategorySelector

Adds a page to a given team's Former Players category. Useful for Player pages when a player changes teams.

Note: This is currently not being added to incinerated players.

Use:
{{FormerTeamCategorySelector|[team name]}}

Team name can be full or common shorthands.

Example:
{{FormerTeamCategorySelector|dale}} = [[Category:Former Miami Dale Players]]

{{FormerTeamCategorySelector|tigers}} = [[Category:Former Hades Tigers Players]]


TeamIconSelector

Generates a team's icon, alinging to the right of the page. Useful for season Blessings results.

Use:
{{TeamIconSelector|[team name]}}

Team name can be full or common shorthands.

Example:

TeamEmojiSelector

Generates a team's emoji.

Use:
{{TeamEmojiSelector|[team name]}}

Team name can be full or common shorthands.

Example:

{{TeamEmojiSelector|tigers}} = 馃悈



TeamNavSelector

Generates a team's navbox. Useful for all pages associated with a certain team. Place at the bottom of the page, under the references or final paragraph.

Note: Be sure to add your page to the Nav itself as well under the appropriate section! To locate the Nav for editing, find the list here.

Use:

Twitter

Generates a Twitter link with an @ symbol. Useful for art sourcing.

Use:

Wikipedia

Generates a banner that cites content from a Wikipedia page.

Use:
{{ Wikipedia | [Wikipedia page name] }}
