Ruiz joined the ILB as a player in the Shadows for the Hellmouth Sunbeams as the Sunbeams' Season 20 Overbracket Playoff Birth.

On Season 24, Day 72, Ruiz joined the Sunbeams' lineup in exchange for Guy Gulp due to Night.

History

Born in [PLACE], Borg "Bo" Ruiz was adopted at a young age by Carmen, Roberta, and Apinya Ruiz and grew up in Spokane, Washington with Bo’s sister, Magi Ruiz. While the two of them were close as children, they began to drift apart [when Magi discovered she had inherent magic ability/started to get more serious about her magic studies/something along these lines but y’know i’m not sure 100% the “lore” on how her magic works so 2 options]. At first Borg waited, [sure that Bo’s own powers would manifest any time now, again not 100% on the “magic lore,” subject to change]. [Also like I tried writing something here about Bo wanting magic to like, be able to relate to/do things with Magi a lot again but it kept coming out wrong if anyone wants it here]. But when Borg realized Bo was waiting on something that would likely never appear, Bo's interest turned to divination.

While Magi pored over her studies, learning about magic and its practical applications, Borg became increasingly fascinated with tasseography, scrying, and cartomancy: particularly tarot. Bo quickly amassed an impressive collection of decks, finding and using one for a few weeks at most before deciding that Bo "didn’t vibe with it" and moving on to the next. After months of searching for the "perfect deck" [ok someone else come up with how Bo decided to shuffle them all up or something idk atm man]. When asked to describe the feeling of using Bo's newly mismatched deck, Borg compared it to "the feeling of putting on a pair of fitted leather gloves for the first time." [Ok so this is kinda where the cards thing is introduced, probably in an order that's like tarot →‎ card tricks →‎ the bit about the nickname maybe ? (‘ace of spades’/wants the nickname ‘ace of diamonds’ but it won’t stick, if we introduce it here it can also be explained, so this is where we would mention Bo’s grey-ace)]

Following Magi signing with the Seattle Garages, Borg began occasionally tagging along with her to practice: band and blaseball. Despite not previously showing any interest in the Garages, band or blaseball, Bo frequently sought out band and teammates of Magi's with questions, learning more about work as a sound technician and about the splort. During this time Borg befriended Magi's roommate Sparks Beans and fellow pitcher Alaynabella Hollywood. After catching Borg reading tea leaves at their apartment one weekend, Beans showed Bo how to brew Turkish coffee so Bo could try reading the coffee grounds. [And then here’s where the bit about being friends with Sparks & Layna via Magi (Magi had an apartment with Sparks & Avila → and then introduce Bo’s friendship with Lenji) will go just so that the intro/transition to the next section makes sense.]

Career with the Sunbeams

After helping Magi and Guzman channel Beans's electric form at the end of Season 19, Borg decided to take the advice of Karim, Hollywood, and Beans and pursue Bo's interests in the Shadow Moabbey. [Insert the rest of the whole “and that's how i got here” stuff].

Upon arrival at the Moabbey, Borg found Bo's days filled with typical monk duties: manuscript illumination, [some wack shit], and building up tolerance to smoothies. Not long after Bo finished unpacking the last of Bo's things, Borg noticed that the room Bo had been assigned to already had an occupant; a Utah Banded Gecko. Attempts to leave the animal alone, waiting for it to leave when it felt so inclined were ultimately dashed when Borg woke up one morning to find it resting on Bo's forehead.

While Borg preferred to spend free time alone, continuing practicing divination and unwinding with solitaire, teammates Zack Sanders and Harriet Gildehaus quickly took a liking to Bo, and Borg could often be found performing a variety of card tricks for one or both of them around the Moabbey grounds. [Something about Kaj too].

Off the field, Borg can be found in Bo's room inside Sigmund Castillo, which Borg has converted into a makeshift workshop, or at the house Bo has moved into with fellow Sunbeams rookies Guy Gulp, the Besties, and Phineas Wormthrice. On the weekends, teammate Paula Reddick is occasionally seen at their residence, hir truck loaded up with spare parts for Borg to rummage through. After sharing Bo's new permanent address with friends around the league, Borg has been sent a number of new "cards" to add to Bo's deck; most recently Bo has received [insert <choose> of absolute bulled shit from all over].
