History

Origins and Death

Little to nothing remains of Reddick's life before blaseball, presumably due to the events surrounding the opening of the Forbidden Book. Reddick does, nonetheless, know shi is of Hmong ancestry, spent at least a time working as an auto shop teacher at a school attended by Alaynabella Hollywood, and signed up to join the Moab Sunbeams with the Return of Blaseball. Reddick claims shi has no memory to confirm these details, instead "knows them to be the last remnant truths about my past".

Reddick's earliest concrete memory was of hir soul being retrieved from the fang-studded depths of the Hellmouth by resident psychopomp Velasquez Meadows, following the summoning of the Hellmouth and its subsequent retrocausal devouring of Moab and many of its citizens.

Time in the Shadows

Reddick settled in at the Shadow Moabbey after hir rescue, and dedicated hirself to the Aspirant Path undertaken by all who wait in the wings to play for the Sunbeams. Shi quickly became something of a mentor figure to other Aspirants, albeit an acerbic one who would generally only advise on matters outside of blaseball. Fellow initial Aspirant Jayden Wright corroborates this assessment of Reddick: "Shi barely joined the others on the bench with batting practice or the like... far more often spending hir time doing maintenance round the Moabbey. Shi had a real knack for it, too - though it meant shi'd never explain to anyone else how it was done, and only on a few occasions took the time to teach someone else how to fix it."

Reddick also took hir time in the shadows to grow accustomed to her new form as a phantasm, and the ability to possess objects. Hir favorite thing to inhabit is "trucks". Around Hellmouth and during blaseball games, shi is more commonly seen sporting the preferred fashion of Hellmouthian ghosts - a bedsheet, somewhat oilstained and topped with a trucker cap from hir collection.

Career with the Sunbeams

Reddick joined the Sunbeams roster from Season β16, relieving for Nagomi Nava. Shi maintains mostly-cordial, if unflinchingly honest, relations with the rest of hir team, but keeps a protective streak for the indefatigable and hard-working Wright.

Reddick's emerging from the Shadows also allowed hir to reconnect with Alaynabella Hollywood, Seattle Garages player and former Sunbeam. The two believe that Hollywood was a particularly attentive and often present pupil of Reddick's, though any evidence to confirm as such was devoured - along with the other details of Reddick's life before Blaseball - clean out of causality by the Hellmouth when it opened below the city. Despite the Hellmouth's best efforts, Hollywood retained memories of melodies, lyrics, and other musical snippets which she strongly suspects were originally composed by Reddick, though she was unable to recall where she'd learned them until Reddick's unshadowing. While these were well-received by Hollywood's bandmates in Seattle, she chose not to release any music incorporating Reddick's work without her former mentor, now friend's blessing. Reddick hirself has said that while making music "isn't really my thing anymore", shi is still known to enjoy belting out tunes while driving.

Reddick is a talented mechanic, with some speculating that hir knack for fixing machines is the result of an Adaptation. Reddick is both quick and uncouth in hir dismissal of such claims, warning anyone who's suggested that "the result of decades of hard work and experience got dropped in my lap by a past-devouring hell pit" will "very suddenly end up with an eighteen-wheeler in [their] living room." When not playing with the Sunbeams, Reddick is most commonly found tinkering away in hir garage, with adjoining car yard/scrapheap and petting zoo slash animal shelter.
