The Discipline Era is the current (and so far, only) era of Blaseball. It was declared by the Blaseball Gods beginning at the end of Season 1, as a direct consequence of Opening the Forbidden Book.

The meaning or purpose of Discipline has never been explicitly stated, but it is widely understood to be an era marked by Blaseball fans undertaking forbidden acts and generally engaging in un-discipline.

Periods

The Discipline Era has seen several periods, or subtitles, to distinguish it in history. The names of these periods were also declared by the Blaseball Gods. In the eyes of Blaseball fans, they have been visible as subtitles to the Blaseball.com site header.

  1. Peanut Plague
  2. Uncertainty
  3. Drought
  4. Feedback
  5. Reverb
  6. Idols

The Three Strikes

Much like the basic rules of Blaseball, it is an implied threat that the Third Strike means that all participants will be "out". The strikes were first mentioned when The Peanut addressed fans following the semi-finals of the Season 3 postseason. During Season 6 fans learned that there are in fact Four Strikes before participants are "out".

The First Strike

See the main article on this topic: The Book of Blaseball#Opening the Forbidden Book

One of the Decrees available during Season 1 was 'OPEN THE FORBIDDEN BOOK', with the subtitle "It is Forbidden." The decree passed, with 61% of all decree votes.

Including the immediate effects of opening the Book, it later transpired that this was the First Strike after The Peanut appeared during the Season 3 postseason.

The Second Strike

See the main article on this topic: Peanut Fraud

During Season 3, insider traitors committed Peanut Fraud, killing Splortsmanship and plunging Blaseball into a state of Blasphemy and Uncertainty. The record number of incinerations in Season 3 may have been a punishment for the Peanut Crimes, but it was not known as the Second Strike until The Peanut appeared and declared it so.

The Third Strike

Between Season 3 and Season 6, fans hoped to avoid causing the Third Strike, not knowing whether there would be a Fourth Strike.

Between the appearance of Idols and The Peanut's message during the Season 5 postseason, some speculated that idolising the three Peanut Players (Peanut Bong, Peanut Holloway, and Peanutiel Duffy) to the top three positions of the leaderboard could end the Discipline Era, or at the very least avoid The Peanut's wrath. There was also speculation that The Return of Jaylen Hotdogfingers could be the Third Strike, although some fans seemed unfazed by this.

After efforts to raise the Peanut players to the top of the Idol leaderboard failed, the Peanut called the Third Strike.

The Fourth Strike

Fans have been warned by The Peanut:
