Magi Ruiz grew up in Spokane, Washington, with her three Thai and Filipina moms. Ruiz had been a fan of the Seattle Garages (the band) for a number of years, following them closely and often helping at events. When the band was playing a special farewell concert for Goodwin Morin at the end of Season 13 in Tokyo, Ruiz saw an opportunity and struck. She snuck into the tour bus, and as Theodore Duende was doing a headcount, he managed to miss player Arturo Huerta, counting Ruiz instead. By the time the team got back to Seattle, its fate was  sealed, and Ruiz found herself as the newest pitcher for the Seattle Garages.

Despite having been a fan of the Garages as a band, Ruiz knew next to nothing about the splort or that they even played blaseball outside of doing music. She was hastily trained by the recently returned and shadowed Jaylen Hotdogfingers, and took to it quickly. She attributes her throwing techniques to a stadium volunteer by the name of Kick Raminsky, who is known for his legendary peanut tossing abilities.

In her downtime, Ruiz can often be seen poring over a giant tome she has on her at all times, studying practical applications of magic and how they can be applied scientifically. She has taken up the studies of the late Ron Monstera, intent on finding the cross section of music and forces beyond our nature. Ruiz can be found before games making the team special blends of tea she claims will improve performance, though it is unclear if these claims hold any weight. She has taken to getting tips from band member Sparks Beans, the two comparing tea and coffee techniques.

Ruiz continues her volunteer work for the band, being the team’s sound tech. Being hard of hearing herself, Ruiz can often be seen at the heavy metal concerts put on by Theodore Duende and Goodwin Morin, handing out earplugs to attendees. She has a number of tools she carries with her, notably a hammer with the word "Magic" written on the side and a roll of duct tape labelled "More Magic", which are her favorite way of fixing things.

Ruiz is an outspoken activist, helping organize protests and rallies around the Puget Sound with assistance from band mate Alaynabella Hollywood.

In Season 14, Day 72, Ruiz was tasked with setting up the newly acquired sound system as part of the stadium’s renovations. As she was doing so, Ruiz noted hearing a strange static coming from the speakers that sounded almost like human words. Tapping into her studies in sound magic, Magi enlisted the help of the band. With Tot Clark on bass, Betsy Trombone on drums, and Durham Spaceman on keytar, the four played a powerful melody of Ruiz’ design, and Wyatt Mason X glitched out of the speakers onto the field.

Ruiz and Mason X can often be seen hanging out with one another. Ruiz has been cited saying she feels the need to protect em, given the circumstances surrounding Static.

Music

Ruiz plays the tubular bells, using her Magic hammer to whack the bells. She attempted to resurrect the tenor Monsteraphone, but quickly considered the efforts fruitless, as diesel instruments don't lend well to her musical stylings.
