Testimony on Cordula Standlake's Identity

Stories swirl about Cordula Standlake in the Interdimensional Rumor Mill. Wiki archivists have dutifully recorded some of them in a Rumor Registry, summarized for easy research. These are the notes for one story from IF-73.271...

As a humpback whale, Cordula Standlake spent most of their time before their baseball career enjoying their life in the Pacific Ocean. However, as much as they loved the water, they couldn't help but be jealous of other animals who could fly. Upon observing the Hawai‘i Fridays practicing on the beach, Standlake quickly became enamored by the giant flock of birds that found homes in the Cookout's Bird Houses. This soon turned into an interest in blaseball, and Standlake has been a member of the Fridays ever since. After coming on land and joining non-aquatic society, Standlake took to wearing a large trench coat with the typical aloha shirt pattern as its lining. Some fans speculate that Standlake might actually be composed of two different whales, one of which is always hiding; however, Standlake declines to comment on the rumor whenever asked.

After joining the team, Standlake quickly fit in with the rest of the Fridays. They were already old friends with teammate Spears Taylor as the two allegedly attended high school together, and many other players on the team soon grew to see them as a fun aunt figure. When not on the field or practicing their batting, Standlake often spends their time out enjoying nature. They can be found campaigning for the preservation of the Hawaiian islands and the Pacific Ocean, usually working closely with their fellow teammates and activist Yasslyn Statter Jr. Similarly, Standlake and Beck Whitney often spend their downtime gardening, both on land and underwater. Standlake is also currently in a loving queer platonic relationship with their bird spouse. When asked about it in interviews, they have stated that they “definitely didn’t just get legally married for the tax benefits”.
