Marquez Clark is a lineup player for the Kansas City Breath Mints.

Official League Record

On Season 7, Day 15, Clark siphoned off star from Valentine Games's defense ability.

On Season 7, Day 51, Clark siphoned ½ star from Workman Gloom's hitting ability.

During the Season 10 election, Clark received the Repeating modification due to the Breath Mints winning the Rogue Waves blessing, but was then sent to the shadows via the Hidden Power blessing in exchange for Helga Washington.

During the Season 13 Elections, Clark was retrieved from the Shadows after Sutton Picklestein was Returned to the Hall of Flame.

History

COMMUNITY REPORTS
The remainder of this article contains lore created collaboratively by the Blaseball community.

Clark is a Earth Human cricket player. As of right now, it is currently unknown as to how he came to play the great sport of Blaseball. His British accent certifiably is certifiably Not Real, as he is a Kansas City native. One day he just showed up with a poorly performed accent and a full suit of cricket gear. He bears an uncanny resemblance to Adil Rashid, a real British cricket player.

During season 7, after two blood gurgies, Clark revealed to Kansas City his true vampiric nature. He cast off his cricket uniform, skin glittering in the sunlight, and bared his beautiful teeth before the fans before the crowd, who, for the most part, reacted cheerfully.

Marquez is now known as the "Vampire from Hampshire". He is unable to transform into a bat, but does have several pet bats that he has named "Whit" "Eddie" and "The Commissioner". Reports say that you can see upon the rooftops of Kansas City by night, scouring across the Horizon with his cricket uniform billowing in the evening breeze.

Clark's retreat to the shadows after the Season 10 elections has been speculated on by splorts fans, analysts, and even a few members of the teams. About half the team believes he may have, "gotten too far into all that vampire stuff" and stepped into the shadows by accident in an effort to gain more "gurgies." The other half of the team claims they saw him run into the shadows shouting, "Good Lord! I must inform the Prime Minister!" upon seeing Helga Washington approach as a result of the election.

Following the results of the Season 13 elections, Sutton Picklestein was resurrected by the Flowers and summarily plundered by the Breath Mints. Clark, having been beaned more times than any other player by the previous resurrected player Jaylen Hotdogfingers, either sought to maintain his record or prevent anyone else from falling victim. It is unclear what plan Marquez have have enacted in those intervening seconds following the Election, but in the space Sutton should have appeared in the Meadow, a grinning Marquez stood instead. Cricket bat in hand, he rejoined the team in Sutton's place.

Additional Mannerisms Noticed by Splorts fans:

  • If Clark hits the ball in-bounds, he will run between second base and home repeatedly to score. As section 4 of the recovered Blaseball rules does not specify how a run is scored, referees have allowed this.
  • Clark has a separate dugout cooler that contains Earl Grey tea rather than orange splorts drink.
  • Between at-bats Clark will loudly discuss current trends in Parliament with Grey Alvarado over tea. The two of them seem to be good friends, despite Grey being a constitutional monarchist and also physically unable to speak about politics.
  • Clark's cricket bat is made from Kashmir Walnut, with "God Save the Queen" carved in Khokerdar undercut style on the rear side of the blade and a "007" sticker on the toe guard.
  • Running on London time, Clark routinely shows up six hours early to home games.
  • Clark usually arrives at the open meadow on the outskirts of town in his lime green 1975 Reliant Robin, cursing about "the bloody traffic on the M4 Eastbound."
  • Clark favors Beatles hits for his walk-up music. His default song is usually the 1964 "Kansas City / Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey". If playing during an eclipse, he will often switch out for "Mr. Moonlight" followed by "Here comes the Sun".

Some speculate that the British mannerisms are just an act, and that "Marq" Clark is actually a double-agent working for the Houston Spies. However, this has been said about every player on every team in every splort, so the odds of it being true are [redacted].
