[[Category:Player Modifications]]

Revision as of 20:31, 7 January 2022

Debt is a series of Player Modifications seen through the Discipline and Expansion Eras, first seen during the Season 6 Election after the resurrection of Jaylen Hotdogfingers via the Lottery Pick blessing as the modification Debted.

Since then, there have been four additional types of Debt - Refinanced Debt, Consolidated Debt, Debt (Observed), and Debt (Unstable).

Debted

Debted was the first form of Debt seen, given to Seattle Garages pitcher Jaylen Hotdogfingers after the Season 6 Election where Hotdogfingers was resurrected as a result of the Lottery Pick blessing.

Effects

When a Player has the Debted modification, there is a chance that certain game actions committed by the player will cause players on the opposing Team to become Unstable. Unstable players are more likely to be incinerated under Solar Eclipse or Supernova Eclipse weather, with the flavor text "A Debt was Collected.".

Hotdogfingers is the only player to have had this modification, and they would occasionally hit opposing batters with the ball, giving them the Unstable modification with a Weekly duration.

History

Throughout Season 7, Hotdogfingers hit 34 hitters with pitches in 21 total games, which resulted in 12 Incinerations.

The events of Ruby Tuesday were also a result of the Instability spread by Debted, which saw 4 players - Moody Cookbook, Mclaughlin Scorpler, Elijah Bates, and Antonio Wallace - incinerated in two games. Kiki Familia was also incinerated, however they were not Unstable.

Refinanced Debt

Refinanced Debt first appeared in Season 8, as Jaylen Hotdogfingers's Debted modification became Refinanced Debt.

Effects

When a Player has the Refinanced Debt modification, there is a chance that certain game actions committed by the player will cause players on the opposing Team to become Flickering. Flickering players are more likely to experience Feedback events and change teams with their opponent, with the flavor text "X flickers!".

Hotdogfingers is the only player to have had this modification, and they would occasionally hit opposing batters with the ball, giving them the Flickering modification with a Weekly duration.

History

Throughout Season 8, Hotdogfingers hit 33 batters with pitches in 20 total games, which resulted in 10 Feedback swaps.

Flickering also resulted in two games where there were two Feedback events involving the same players:

Consolidated Debt

Consolidated Debt first appeared in Season 9, as Jaylen Hotdogfingers's Refinanced Debt modification became Consolidated Debt.

Effects

When a Player has the Consolidated Debt modification, there is a chance that certain game actions committed by the Player will cause Players on the opposing Team to become Repeating. Repeating players will bat again after they get a hit under Reverb weather.

Hotdogfingers is the only player to have had this modification, and they would occasionally hit opposing batters with the ball, giving them the Repeating modification with a Weekly duration.

History

Throughout Season 9, Hotdogfingers hit 36 batters with pitches in 19 total games, giving all hit batters the Repeating modification.

Of Hotdogfingers' Debts, this is the only form of Debt that didn't harm to players or teams, as the only result was the player being able to bat more under Reverb weather.

Debt (Observed)

Debt first appeared during the Season 14 election, given to players York Silk and Chorby Soul as a result of being resurrected via the Baltimore Crabs' and Seattle Garages' respective Plunder wills.

Effects

When a Player has the Debt modification, there is a chance that certain game actions committed by the player will cause players on the opposing Team to become Observed. Observed players had a chance to become Redacted after playing under Coffee, Coffee 2, or Coffee 3s weather, or did become Redacted after entering a Secret Base.

Hitters with the Debt modification would occasionally hit the ball at opposing fielders, giving them the Observed modification with a Weekly duration.

Pitchers with the Debt modification would occasionally hit opposing batters, giving them the Observed modification with a Weekly duration.

History

For a more in-depth look at the effects of this Debt, see the Investigation.

York Silk and Chorby Soul

Between Seasons 15 and 17, both Silk and Soul would hit players of the opposing teams with balls, causing them to become Observed. Either under Coffee weathers or via the Secret Base, these players would then become Redacted, and eventually gain the Attractor modification, which caused them to randomly appear in other Ballparks with the Secret Base modification to join different teams.

Incoming Message

On Season 15, Day 24, Garages hitter Wyatt Mason X Echoed Soul, causing them to gain the Returned and Debt modification, and more importantly, caused the remaining Receivers in the league to also gain these modification. Dallas Steaks pitcher Sixpack Dogwalker, and San Francisco Lovers pitcher NaN both gained the Debt modification, causing even more players to become Observed, and then Redacted.

As a result of these Echos, Dogwalker hit 7 players with their pitches, NaN hit 6, and Mason X hit the ball towards 6 fielders.

Niqromancy

During the Season 23 elections, the Lottery Pick blessing was available once again, which was used in a campaign called Niqromancy to resurrect incinerated Atlantis Georgias batter Niq Nyong'o. The plan was a success, with Nyong'o rising from the Hall of Flame, and joining the Pies' Rotation. As a result of necromancy, Nyong'o was given both the Returned and Debt modifications, proved to be Observed Debt on Season 24, Day 4 when they hit Fridays batter Cordula Standlake with a pitch. Nyong'o would hit 10 batters with a pitch during Season 24 before being sent to the Shadows via the Ratified Fax Machine.

Debt (Unstable)

Debt first appeared during the Season 20 election, given to batter Silvaire Roadhouse via the Boston Flowers' Reform will.

Effects

The effects of this Debt are identical to the original Debted modification seen in Season 7, however it was shown that this Debt works for both hitters and pitchers, rather than it being unknown as Debted was.

History

During the Season 20 election, the Flowers earned the Reform will, which rerolled Silvaire Roadhouse's Flinch modification to Debt. This is the first time that the Debt modification was permanently earned outside of necromancy, which came as a shock to Fans.

Roadhouse's Debt was proven to be identical to Hotdogfingers' original Debted modification on Season 21, Day 11, when Roadhouse hit the ball towards Jazz Hands fielder Walton Sports, giving them the Unstable modification.

The impacts of Roadhouse's Debt wouldn't be felt until Season 23, when players Helga Washington, Jon Halifax, Gunther O'Brian, and Helga Moreno were all incinerated as a result of Instability.
