Personality

Combs Estes (they/them) is the most stylish player the Steaks have ever encountered. With their sharp suits and ever-changing hairstyle, Estes has caused quite a stir in the Steaks fandom since joining the team in Season 4.

Estes is said to have been born with a full head of hair and a comb in each hand, one labelled "Unbreakable," the other labelled "Nonflammable." Growing up in Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, Combs was fascinated with the city's Art Deco and Art Nouveau architecture and the many museums. Estes began attending museum galas and performances at the Fundación Italia at a young age, which is where they first began to develop their fashion sense, favoring carefully-tailored suits and a tall pompadour with shaved sides.

Combs Estes joined the Steaks when Stevenson Monstera was incinerated by a rogue umpire. Estes was caught in the crossfire of the umpire's bolt of fire, and while they avoided incineration, the fire did burn off all their hair, which has not grown back due to the demonic nature of the fire bolt. Estes would say, during their first press conference, that they felt this was a positive development, "providing [them] with a fresh canvas to create whatever art is most moving." They have carried this philosophy forward into their blaseball career, wearing an assortment of different wigs and outfits, emblazoned with Steaks iconography per the rules, to create the appropriate dramatic effect needed for the game, whether that be to inspire their teammates or to intimidate or seduce their rivals. At particularly dramatic moments, Estes has even been known to remove their wig entirely and let their bald head be a statement of unmitigated confidence and determination.

In Breckenridge

After being traded to the Jazz Hands, Estes became the team's costume designer, managing their wardrobe for both games and performances. Combs also starred in The Peanutcracker as the Peanutcracker, who unites the mice and toy soldiers to destroy The Peanut. Combs originally learned to dance to ensure that the costumes they designed for dancers were practical and not simply stylish. They found that they had a talent for dance and polished their new skill until they were able to combine their costumes and dancing to induce maximum emotion in the audience.

Trivia

  • Combs Estes and Philomena A. Minyon, the Steaks General Manager, have become fast friends.
  • They mark it as a point of pride that they were in attendance for the unveiling of Rosario's Che Guevara statue in 2008.
