History

Background

Fletcher Yamamoto is a small bird native to the Sovereign Nation of Hawai'i. Yamamoto joined the team when he caught a fly ball while observing the game from center field.

Yamamoto's favorite base is third base and he will often attempt to steal it, even if the situation doesn't call for it. When asked why he loves that particular base so much, he repeatedly scrawled the word "shiny" in the infield dirt. It is unclear what he was referring to.

Season 8 Fridays Captain

After Elijah Valenzuela's trade to the Breckenridge Jazz Hands, Fletcher Yamamoto stepped up to become the Fridays team captain as one of the remaining players on the team since season 1, and also as the current lead off hitter. The decision was more or less unanimous among both teammates and fans, who all shouted "Bird captain!" in unison. After receiving the captain's hat, Yamamoto was quoted with, "[tweet] yeah, you mess with the nest, [tweet] die like the rest."

Joining the San Francisco Lovers

Shortly after Yeong-Ho Garcia was traded to the San Francisco Lovers, the team's new pitcher was eager to start making new bird friends at the PolyHedron. Eventually Garcia's strong bird affinity made its impact the next day, in the middle of a Blaseball game between the Lovers and Fridays in Season 12. During this game, Garcia befriended Yamamoto, at the time still serving as the Fridays' captain. Once he had been approached, Yamamoto formed an unexpectedly close bond with the Lovers' new court wizard, resulting in his trade with NaN. He now takes residency within the PolyHedron's falconry between games, where Garcia acts as caretaker.
