History

Colloquially known as ‘Blimp Hardison’ (collective they/them), this air vessel was originally hired by the Blaseball News Network for capturing aerial views of live splorting events for broadcast and advertising purposes. However, due to an unfortunate clerical error involving Hardison’s Blimp Aviation, Co.’s paperwork, the vessel was misfiled as a singular individual/blaseball player named ‘Blimp Hardison’. Despite protests from the crew, they resigned themselves to their inevitable fate, joining the San Francisco Lovers’ line-up.

Strangely enough, every crew member of the vessel’s name appears to be Hardison. When asked about it, the various Hardisons couldn’t seem to recall if that was always the case or not. To minimize confusion onboard the blimp each Hardison has taken a designated call sign based on a prominent feature of their appearance, their designation, or their job title.

The Blimp

The vessel, simply known as ‘Blimp’ was designed using a hybrid of magic and technology, appropriately called ‘magitech’. Blimp is a non-rigid (meaning its shape is not maintained by a rigid internal structure) dirigible (directable/steerable airships). Inside its exterior envelope, the vessel is fitted with air–filled ballonets and ‘love blood’. As Blimp ascends or descends, the internal ballonets, using magitech, expand or contract to compensate for eDensity changes and to maintain uniform pressure in the envelope. The eDensity is maintained under low pressure, so small punctures do not pose serious consequences for the vessel. One inspection element of the vessel is to look into the envelope for pinpoints of light which are indicative of small holes.

The Crew

Many individuals make up the crew of Blimp, below is one such crewmember.
This time, the Interdimensional Rumor Mill reveals a Crew Manifest from IF-1414 out of its Crew Manifest Registry...

Name: REDACTED Hardison

Call Sign: The Jester

Pronouns: He/him, they/them

Description

Standing at around 5'0 (although he insists they're "way taller" if stood up straight.) The Jester is not a particularly imposing figure. Despite this, he isn't forgettable; when not taking care of team duties you can find him experimenting with bleaching clothes, and painting patches to add to his jacket. They frequently change hair colour, enjoying the choice long hair offers him, although he always eventually circles back to pink now that it matches his Lovers uniform. The Jester has a lot of tattoos which often cover scars, including plants and drawings done by himself and others he met on his travels. Finding joy in self expression, he also has a number of piercings on face, ears and body.

History

Hailing from Australia, The Jester's formative years were less than smooth. As the oldest of nine children, The Jester often took a parental role within the group in his parents' absence. These responsibilities, as well as a general lack of motivation, meant they often underachieved academically. Jester's real passions were in the arts, creating music and visual art. After dropping out of high school, he focused his efforts on the band they had with a group of friends, as well as raising funds for a rainy day. Subsequently, after a sudden separation of the group, The Jester quit their jobs, sold most of their belongings and he left Australia, mailing only a handful of hastily written letters before his departure.

Once on the road Jester created music. He played basement shows and on the street, making contacts and travelling with a range of people during their journey. This allowed him to do a range of tasks to raise funds to get to his next location.

After a post-performance bar fight caused him to wish to leave his latest stay point early, he started searching for temporary work. His quest was largely fruitless until the Blimp Hardison docked in town. Upon hearing there was a chance of work The Jester made the choice to speak with the Captain, despite being unsure what he could contribute to the crew. Instead of finding the ship's Captain he came across I.S.O.N. who was far more concerned for The Jester's well-being than his lack of employment. By the time I.S.O.N. had cared for the traveler's injuries the Blimp's occupants had returned from their errands and allowed the pair to plead his case.

Now, as a fully fledged member of the Hardison crew, they can often be found among their plants and vegetables, tending to them or simply finding solace within the peace, using the space to create art. If not among the garden Jester can be found with the Cook ("helping" with varying degrees of success), or spending time with other members of the Lovers who he now considers family. With the Lovers Jester causes his own brand of accident and injury, doing his best to appreciate the new friends and art of Blaseball.
