Coaching Staff

The original Chicago Firefighters once had a manager and a coach. Legends claim that the original coach was even Chicago itself. Ever since the Great Chicago Blaseball Fire, the Firefighters have been considered a player-owned team, as all players are the coach and the manager.

The only other member of the coaching staff is the Third Base Coach. Each game, a lucky fan is chosen from the stadium and promoted to Third Base Coach, gaining the title Coach Casimir Pulaski Day. At the end of the game, the fan is subsequently demoted and their original name returned.

Culture

Fans

All fans of the Chicago Firefighters are from Chicago. Once someone chooses to be a fan of the Chicago Firefighters, they are from that moment on from Chicago. It is unknown if this changes should a fan no longer support the Chicago Firefighters, as no one has yet been foolish enough to try.

A popular fan common space is The Spot, a dog-friendly bar and grill where fans often meet to discuss games, be from Chicago, and get $3 Royal Crown Malort shots hosed down at you from behind the bar.

Chants

Common chants include "We Are From Chicago" and several variations of the popular slogan. It is also commonly shorted to "WAFC" and accompanied by the 🔥 emoji. "Chicago Is Where We Are From" is a recent addition.

Fans will shout these chants together in unison as a show of solidarity for many events, including winning a game, gaining a point, or even personal achievements. It is considered a greeting, farewell, and motto all at once.

Sponsorships

The official drink of the Firefighters is Royal Crown Malort.

Rivalries

The Firefighters are intense rivals with fire; however, simultaneously, they love fire. This is known as the Firefighter's Paradox.

The Los Angeles Tacos are a major rival team.

A rivalry between the Firefighters and the Hades Tigers erupted on 2:81 of the Discipline Era, when the Firefighters official Twitter tweeted: "We are from chicago"[1]. The Tigers official Twitter responded "Um, so?"[2], a direct insult to the Firefighters' honor. Fans stated that the rivalry will continue until the Hades Tigers are eradicated completely until 2:90, when the Hades Tigers recanted[3], recognizing both the importance of Chicago, and the fact that the eternal struggle between the Firefighters and the endless blaze of Hades makes both stronger. The rivalry continues, but has become friendly, at least for now.

History

Pre-History

The Firefighters were once a team managed, owned, and coached by individuals.

Creation

During the Great Chicago Blaseball Fire, the original Fire House, players, and management were destroyed. After the Chicago firefighters arrived at the blaze and put it out, they stuck around and formed the Firefighters team as it is known today.

Trivia

  • The Firefighters have three outfield positions: Western, Lake, and State.
  • Despite having a stadium full of fire escapes, the Firefighters have never let a fire escape.
