The Chicago Firefighters are a Blaseball team in the Lawful Good division of the Good League. They have been a part of the Blaseball League since Season 1. Like all of us, they are from Chicago. Their stadium is The Fire House.

Coaching Staff

The original Chicago Firefighters once had a manager and a coach. Legends claim that the original coach was even Chicago itself. Ever since the Great Chicago Blaseball Fire, the Firefighters have been considered a player-owned team, as all players are the coach and the manager.

The only other member of the coaching staff is the Third Base Coach. Each game, a lucky fan is chosen from the stadium and promoted to Third Base Coach, gaining the title Coach Casimir Pulaski Day. At the end of the game, the fan is subsequently demoted and their original name returned.

Bat Hat

A sentient pile of fire hats wearing a trench coat that seems to have resided in the stadium since the fire house was created, the Bat Hat is a friendly helper that does its best to help the Firefighters. Always there to deliver a sharpened batting axe or pick up a foul blaseball, fans often fondly remember the mind bending break in reality that is associated with not quite fully seeing or understanding how the Bat Hat gets around. The only time the Bat Hat has ever been seen outside of the Fire House is rumored sightings conducting the L train to and from lowest Wacker.

The second match-up saw them win against the Boston Flowers with a 3-1 score, advancing to the finals, where they were defeated by the Philly Pies with a score of 3-1.

Culture

Fans

All fans of the Chicago Firefighters are from Chicago. Once someone chooses to be a fan of the Chicago Firefighters, they are from that moment on from Chicago.[1] It is unknown if this changes should a fan no longer support the Chicago Firefighters, as no one has yet been foolish enough to try.

A popular fan common space is The Spot, a dog-friendly bar and grill where fans often meet to discuss games, be from Chicago, and get $3 Royal Crown Malort shots hosed down at you from behind the bar.

Fans are also frequently found congregating around The Blean, possibly due to its tourist-repelling properties, although those who return from the area often claim that they did not intend to visit it.

Chants

Common chants include "We Are From Chicago" and several variations of the popular slogan. It is also commonly shorted to "WAFC" and accompanied by the 🔥 emoji. Occasionally, it is a hashtag.

Fans will shout these chants together in unison as a show of solidarity for many events, including winning a game, gaining a point, or even personal achievements. It is considered a greeting, farewell, and motto all at once.

Examples of chants include:

  • We Are From Chicago!
  • WAFC
  • Chicago Is Where We Are From

Sponsorships

The official drink of the Firefighters is Royal Crown Malort.

Rivalries

The Firefighters are intense rivals with fire; however, simultaneously, they love fire. This is known as the Firefighter's Paradox.

The Los Angeles Tacos are a major rival team.

A rivalry between the Firefighters and the Hades Tigers erupted on 2:81 of the Discipline Era, when the Firefighters Unofficial Twitter tweeted: "We are from chicago"[2]. The Tigers Official Twitter responded "Um, so?"[3], a direct insult to the Firefighters' honor. Fans stated that the rivalry will continue until the Hades Tigers are eradicated completely until 2:90, when the Hades Tigers recanted[4], recognizing both the importance of Chicago, and the fact that the eternal struggle between the Firefighters and the endless blaze of Hades makes both stronger. The rivalry continues, but has become friendly, at least for now.

Traditions

During the playoffs, all Firefighters players grow out their fingernails and paint them with fire-inspired designs.

History

Pre-History

The Firefighters were once a team managed, owned, and coached by individuals.

Creation

During the Great Chicago Blaseball Fire, the original Fire House, players, and management were destroyed. After the Chicago firefighters arrived at the blaze and put it out, they stuck around and formed the Firefighters team as it is known today.

Branding

Colors

asdf
The Firefighters' home and away jerseys.

The official colors of the Firefighters are yellow, maroon (8D2A3C), Orange (FF960A) and white.

Player Numbers

Each player's number corresponds to the Chicago zip code they live in. Players all have their number tattooed on the knuckles of one hand and WAFC tattooed on the other hand.

Players who inherit a number are from the zip code corresponding to their inherited number. If they were not from that zip code, they are now.

Jerseys

The Firefighters have two jerseys, corresponding to home and away games.

The away jersey is plainer, patterned on a firefighter's uniform: Yellow and white reflective stripes on a tan background, with the logo in the middle and the burning heart on one sleeve.

The home jersey is more bold, with the tan background replaced with a raging fire, a constant reminder of the fire they love and rival so passionately.

Trivia

  • The Firefighters have three outfield positions: Western, Lake, and State.
  • Despite having a stadium full of fire escapes, the Firefighters have never let a fire escape.
