Betsy Trombone was a pitcher for the Seattle Garages and was with the team from Season β9, Day 7 until Fall Ball. Trombone has played for the Philly Pies.

Official League Records

Trombone joined the ILB as a pitcher for the Philly Pies with the Return of Blaseball.

During the Season β4 elections, Trombone was affected by the Alternate Reality decree and replaced by an Alternate. This involved Trombone's stats being randomized, resulting in a combined 10.0 → 6.8 stat decrease.

During the Season β5 election, Trombone received a combined 6.8 → 5.8 stat decrease as a result of the Charleston Shoe Thieves' Bad Neighbors blessing.

On Season β9, Day 7, Trombone was exchanged to the Seattle Garages due to Feedback. Trombone was replaced by Jaylen Hotdogfingers. During that season's elections, Trombone received the Friend of Crows modification via the Forecast: Birds decree.

During the Coffee Cup, Trombone played for the Cold Brew Crew as a lineup player.

During the Season β12 elections Trombone received a combined 6.5 → 12 stat increase as a result of the Garages' Infuse will.

During the Season β19 elections, Trombone Evolved to Base 1 as a result of the Targeted Evolution blessing.

On Season β21, Day 57, Trombone retreated to the Garages' Shadows in exchange for Fairwood Patchwork as a result of the The Hotdogfingers Memorial Climate Pledge Garage and Parking Facility's Fax Machine.

During the Season β22 elections, Trombone rejoined the Garages' pitching rotation in exchange for Fitzgerald Wanderlust as a result of the Garages' Roster Swap will.

Betsy Trombone is the starting pitcher for the Philly Pies. They are a member of the storied blaseball Trombone family along with their sibling, the late Rhys Trombone. Unlike Rhys, however, Betsy was cloned from a Cretaceous Period trombone preserved in amber found in a Peruvian mine by wealthy industrialist Reginald Trombone, the patriarch of the Trombone family. Placed into a gestating blaseball egg and slathered in the transbiological matter of retired blaseball players, Trombone ultimately hatched as an inextricable amalgam of brass and flesh and was immediately called up by the Pies without playing in the Underleagues.

Well-liked by their teammates, Trombone has a carefree and trusting nature. They have seven positions and two valves. They are a hugger.

Their ability to consistently strike out higher starred batters, especially the 5 starred Jessica Telephone, has been largely attributed to her hypnotic and snakelike gaze. When not looking directly at any one person it could be assumed her gaze is vacant, devoid of focus, but when focused in on an opponent their eyes are piercing and deadly, freezing the batter momentarily before they can hit.

Alternate Reality

After season 4, Betsy Trombone was replaced by an alternate reality version of herself. This Trombone, who goes by "BT", was shoved into the same portal that claimed Kennedy Cena by her former teammates, who were fed up with her bad attitude, insistence on sneaking cigarettes into practice, faulty spit valve, occasional stabbing, and, worst of all, subpar play that was standing in the way of their goal of descension. She was widely despised by fans of the Alternate Pies, who dismissively nicknamed her "Spitvalve". However, she still bakes delicious bread like Betsy Prime. Trombone typically wears a black leather jacket over her Pies uniform.

Career on the Seattle Garages

After swapping with Jaylen Hotdogfingers due to feedback, Trombone was warmly welcomed by the Seattle Garages, in part due to their inherent musical talent, in other part due to her no nonsense attitude. Trombone's affinity for brass instruments proved essential to the team, as the departure of Farrell Seagull left the band with no one left to "doot". Oliver Mueller quickly approached them to collaborate, forming a ska band "TBD". Summers Pony has also been invited after proving themselves capable of handling a saxophone at the send of Season 10. Trombone's punk and occasionally-violent nature helped fill the void left by Allison Abbott, which further endeared her to the team. Trombone and Turnip can often be found practicing recreational axe throwing. Nolanestophia Patterson was particularly excited at Trombone's arrival to the team. Sophia often throws in additional cheers for Spitvalve during games that she's pitching.

Trombone is, surprisingly, a good friend of Mike Townsend. Their unlikely friendship began after Mike approached Trombone to discuss their mutual love of baking, despite Trombone having been voted "Most Likely To Stab Someone" in the Pies yearbook. Both pitchers can often be found baking bread and other foods for the team before matches. During Townsend's time in the shadows, Trombone was reportedly spotted entering a former Planera Bread bakery whenever they were in Seattle. Now that Townsend has returned to the shadows, Trombone can be found at his new bakery, Grand Clentral.

On the field, Trombone is incredibly dedicated to the splort. With one of the highest strikeout rates on record, Trombone is constantly outperforming her star rating. Even during the Garages' Season 10 party time, Trombone refused to let the innings last any longer than necessary. Some speculate that her drive comes from wanting to prove that low ranked players shouldn't be underestimated, but when reached for comment, Trombone sicced her crows on the reporter, causing them to flee.

Once the Philly Pies began befriending the local crows in Season 9, fans and splortscasters alike assumed this would affect only the resident members of the team. But crows, known for remembering faces, were reported to have followed Trombone all the way from Philadelphia to Seattle after the swap. Given the long travel time, this meant they didn't reach Seattle until Season 10, granting Trombone her Friend of Crows trait. Since their arrival, most of the crows in the Puget Sound appear to share their favor for Betsy.
