Axel Cardenas is a batter for the Mexico City Mild Wings. Cardenas was once temporarily part of the Chicago Firefighters.

Official League Record

Cardenas joined the ILB at the beginning of Season 1 as a hitter for the Mexico City Wild Wings.

During a Season 7, Day 105 playoffs game against the Seattle Garages, Axel, along with 4 of his teammates was hit by a pitch thrown by Jaylen Hotdogfingers. Axel became Unstable, greatly increasing chance of future incineration, until day 108.

During the Season 7 elections, Cardenas was traded to the Chicago Firefighters in exchange for Joshua Watson via the Champs in the Making blessing. Cardenas was promptly traded back to the Wild Wings in exchange for José Haley by the same blessing.

COMMUNITY REPORTS
The remainder of this article contains lore created collaboratively by the Blaseball community.

Axel is too cool for blaseball. So much so, in fact, that he regrets ever joining. He does not try, because this would be uncool.

Although Cardenas vehemently denies any feelings, including romantic ones, he has been spotted several times in The Local Diner with his presumed boyfriend and tire-rat gestalt intelligence Miguel Wheeler, sipping buffalo flavored milkshakes. When asked about a photo where he can be seen blushing as a tire-rat slips into his milkshake, he responded by simply saying, “tch” and rolling his eyes. At that point, he stuck a cherry lollipop in his mouth, leaving on-scene reporters too enthralled to inquire further.

Appearance

He wears a leather jacket over his uniform, arms not through the sleeves. He is always seen wearing sunglasses, both on and off the pitch. He has a seemingly endless supply of lollipops, and is rarely seen without one.  Recently, Axel has also been spotted wearing a tire-shaped pendant in memoriam of his now-deceased teammate, Miguel.

Play Style

He bats one handed, with his right hand in the pocket of his skinny jeans. You will never, ever, be as cool as him.

It is speculated that Axel hits so many foul balls because of his foul attitude.

It is rumored that, during the Season 7 playoffs, Axel was occasionally seen using both hands to bat.  There is no solid evidence to corroborate this belief, and Axel has vehemently denied it every time it has come up, but it should be noted that Axel’s batting performance increased greatly during this time.

Training in Chicago

At the end of Season 7, Axel was traded to the Firefighters as a result of the blessing election results. During the short time that he spent in Chicago, his teammates noted that he seemed increasingly homesick, and that despite a genuine camaraderie with several members of the Firefighters, any genuine interest he seemed to have developed for blaseball during last season's playoffs had seemingly vanished entirely. While the true story of Axel's rapid return to the Wild Wings is unclear, it is reported that one day , without warning, he simply drove back to Mexico City on his own, forcing both the Wings and the Firefighters to scramble to make a deal around it.

Whether his actions were driven by homesickness or a distaste for being put in the first batting slot on the Firefighter's roster is entirely unclear, but former teammate José Haley, who managed to legitimize Axel's return home by announcing that he would trade himself for Axel's return, seemed somewhat unconcerned by his actions, simply saying that "He isn't quite ready to leave home, yet. Just give him a bit of time." Axel proceeded to play one of his best seasons so far on the Wild Wings in Season 8.
