Early Life

Originally employed as a cabin boy and arcane navigator aboard the ██████ vessel, Ankle Halifax died in a shipwreck that they claim could have happened in 1900, 2013, 1667, ██75, or during the events of 1997. Atlantis gave them a second chance and transformed their body into one better suited for the depths of the ocean. Their activities during this time remain largely underwater and unknown, but online they cultivated a following under the alias ×βīţêř× for their nightcore remixes of various songs. On multiple occasions they have called themself “the inventor of nightcore,” but it is unclear whether this claim is made genuinely or as an expression emphasizing their innovations and mastery of the music.

Time on the Atlantis Georgias

After ███ years in Atlantis, Halifax joined the Georgias as a pitcher, where they were known for their distinctive pitching style of punching the ball towards the batter. The velocity achieved with this technique was formidable, but the accuracy was lacking and the pitches often missed the strike zone, resulting in the opposing batters often being walked onto first base. This style of pitching has led to fan speculation that they are not only part anglerfish, but part mantis shrimp as well.

After the death of Halifax’s close friend Son Scotch and the static of Halifax’s teammate Wyatt “Trip” Mason in Season 14, their on-field conduct changed and they became notable for their bad attitude. Halifax was often visibly miserable during games, complaining bitterly about anything from the weather to the opposing team to the tv show they were currently missing. When “league renowned bad player" Knight Triumphant exited the Georgias’ shadows, they replaced Halifax on the rotation despite Triumphant themself being what might only generously be described as a mediocre pitcher.

During Halifax’s time in the Georgias’ shadows, they finally began to mature both physically and emotionally, and they began to grow out of their role as the “child of the team.” When their mother figure Captain Niq Nyong’o died, Halifax was distraught but stated they were ready to emerge from the shadows and be someone the team could rely on. However, as then-Lift pitcher Jan Canberra was looking for a way back to Atlantis to become captain of the Georgias in Nyong’o’s place, Halifax was volunteered to replace her on the Lift and they were shipped off to Tokyo in her stead.

Time on the Tokyo Lift

Halifax was Elsewhere when they joined the team, and suffered a damaging allergic reaction from a stray peanut floating in the immateria. Additionally, shortly before returning from Elsewhere, Lift co-captain Gerund Pantheocide had been incinerated. Former teammate Triumphant had ended up on the Lift in the same election as Halifax, and following Halifax’s return from Elsewhere the two bonded over Atlantis and their shared grief for Nyong’o. Triumphant took Halifax under their own wing when much of the rest of the Lift was closed off in mourning, and during their two seasons together, Triumphant trained Halifax in knightly activities such as horse and seahorse riding, axe and polearm use, and “not being quite so rude all the time.” Shortly before Triumphant left for Dallas, Halifax moved to the lineup and realized they too were much more suited to batting than pitching.

Despite their initial poor impressions of the Lift, Halifax grew to welcome the change in scenery. Few on the Lift saw them as a child to be protected, and living above water for the first time in years, in another country, allowed for a wealth of new experiences. In their free time, Halifax took up wandering Akihabara alone and with fellow anglerfish Rylan O’Lantern and Grollis Zephyr, joining O’Lantern in attempting to repair the receivers that had inexplicably appeared on various rooftops in Tokyo after Season 14, experimenting with seifuku and street fashion, and expanding their culinary repertoire.

When the Frankies Incarnate arrived in the Lift’s shadows, Halifax once again took up rune reading and navigation with the new medium of gyoza. Before the Lift was nullified, Halifax was allegedly last seen spreading out a selection of meats with the Frankies to divine the safest path to the Horizon.
