Personal Life

Pyra Anice was, for as long as anyone could remember, fascinated by death and the macabre. From not shying away from the sight of roadkill as a young child, to pursuing Paleontology and Anthropology as fields of study later in life, it would always be a part of her.

Eventually her fixation, and the research she did to sate it, would come to center around the greatest desire a selfish person could have—returning to life what was once dead. At this point, Pyra herself had no particular love lost for anyone deceased or dying, but was swept up in some form of romantic entanglement involving Lurch Mondavi and Deputy Sari.

Pyra’s dedication to the subject out of what appeared to be little more than to indulge her curiosity—as well as the direction the research seemed to be headed—concerned Deputy, and led to the fracturing of whatever rapport they had. Both Sari and Lurch Mondavi would pass sometime after.

Opening the Hellmouth

Eventually, Pyra Anice’s studies would lead her to tomes containing information on an Entity not bound to time, and would begin to feverishly pursue it, potentially fueled by a newfound personal motivation.

The Hellmouth would in fact devour the desert, whether truly by Pyra’s efforts or by an unknown circumstance, and with its opening released an untold amount of spirits onto the town. Ghosts that could find their bodies would be granted a more sustainable form of undeath, among them Lurch and Deputy thanks to Pyra’s efforts in preserving their cadavers.

Those that had nowhere to go, however, would instead terrorize the populace, aimlessly venting a life’s worth of emotion. If Pyra Anice’s work was ever to continue, she would have to do something about this. Using a collection of various scraps of bone, flesh, and etcetera, she would create a cruel simulacrum of a body.

Intending to use it to test her ability to contain a single spirit, she was shocked when instead several hundred poured into the meat mannequin, which would come to be known as Grant Cage. Though Deputy Sari would dedicate herself to undoing this tragedy, Lurch was returned to life disoriented, coming to rely on Pyra and living in her cellar alongside Grant.

Blaseball Career

On the Hellmouth Sunbeams Rotation, or really the entire time, it was hard to call anyone the absolute worst besides Pyra Anice. She was truly awful at the splort, letting in run after run, but managing to avoid a total wash of a Win-Loss ratio solely by piggybacking off the talents of the Line-Up.

Her position on the team and Star Rating would go unaffected by both Election and Weather over the course of the Circuit, ending just as terrible at the game as she started.

BROADCAST INTERRUPTED

When it came time for the Microphone to collect its static charges, Pyra Anice would be distraught to see Lurch Mondavi charged and turned into Static. On some level, it was loneliness and grief, dreading not having Lurch by her side. On another, it was frustration at not being able to control them, to stop him from leaving in the first place. On every other level, it was her selfishness having wanted to be charged herself, assuming it a long shot but the only way of escaping what she perceived to be a ‘doomed universe.’
