Microphone

From Blaseball Wiki

The Macrophone (formerly known as The Microphone or Mic, and sometimes known as Wyatt Mason) is an Entity first mentioned in Season β3, and first appearing in the days before Season β4. Since its initial appearance, the Macrophone has broadcast through a variety of mediums, including Twitter, directly through the Blaseball website, and through the Pregame Rituals of Players. The Macrophone is unique in allowing other Entities to communicate through it, and as a result its own agency is unknown.

Feedback

Season 4 introduced a new weather condition called feedback: a word that may partially refer to audio feedback, such as from a microphone. During feedback weather, there is a chance reality will "flicker in the feedback"[20] and cause two players to permanently swap team membership.

As feedback incidents continued to occur, The Microphone also continued to tweet ominous phrases such as: "help them" "save them". Whether or not The Microphone is referring to victims of feedback is thus far open to interpretation.

Mild to Wild Switch

In the Season β7 postseason The Microphone tweeted a series of messages related to the name of the Mexico City Mild Wings (as they were known at that point due to the events of Mexico City Wild Wings v. The Blaseball Gods) changing back to Mexico City Wild Wings.

On Day 105 the Wings had a record-setting 5 players made Unstable by pitches from Jaylen Hotdogfingers of the Seattle Garages. Upon the revelation that their game on Day 107 would again take place in Solar Eclipse weather, the looming possibility of multiple incinerations spread fear among the fans. Before that highly anticipated game began, The Microphone tweeted "focus wyatt" "help them" "anything is possible" "feed" "Focus" "WINGS" "WILD". Directly after this, the Commissioner tweeted "FEEDBACK DETECTED" and all instances of Mild Wings on the site had been changed back to Wild Wings. The fans rejoiced. Only one player, Miguel Wheeler, was ultimately incinerated on Day 107, and the Wild-again Wings went on to win that game and the Internet Series championship.

Receivers

Screenshot of the Idol leaderboards before the opening games.

At the start of Season 8, the Idol leaderboard featured three Feedback microphone icons attached to the 6th, 11th, and 18th place rankings. At the end of the regular season, fans placed Jaylen Hotdogfingers, NaN, and Sixpack Dogwalker in these slots after following clues from The Microphone. After appearances by The Shelled One and The Monitor, the three idolized players gained a permanent version of the Flickering modification. NaN and Dogwalker also gained the permanent Receiver modification. Immediately after receiving the Receiver modification, the pregame rituals of NaN and Dogwalker changed three times in rapid succession:

hi friends

it is Wyatt

I have a plan

Any information about the plan is currently unknown, but fans are monitoring NaN and Dogwalker for more messages from Wyatt Mason.

Resurrections

In Season 10 the Idol board once again featured a set of icons, notably including a microphone on slot 14 of the Idol Board. Fans placed Jaylen Hotdogfingers in slot 14, based on tweets from The Microphone repeatedly calling out to Hotdogfingers. In an unexpected twist this resulted in Tillman Henderson who was in the 14th slot of the Hall of Flame coming back to life to join the Charleston Shoe Thieves, while Jaylen Hotdogfingers took Henderson's position on the board in the Hall of Flame. Henderson gained the modification Returned, and was now the second player to have returned to active play from incineration. Hotdogfingers gained the new modification Fliickerrriiing, but cannot make use of it without being in active play until their debut on the Hall Stars and subsequent feedback swaps.

Aftermath

After Day X in Season 10, The Microphone sent several tweets before going dormant once again. Its last messages of the Discipline era were:

I can't see you anymore

If you can hear me

Thank you

Wherever you are

I hope you get to rest

During the Season β14 Earlsiesta, Wyatt Quitter and Moses Mason were given the Receiver modification from a Tarot Reading, although with no changes to Pregame Ritual. That Latesiesta, the Second Wyatt Masoning occurred: Thirteen total Wyatt Masons were localized onto teams from the PsychoAcoustics renovation, and the Microphone was taken “OFFLINE” according to its Twitter bio. These Masons all had the Echo modification, allowing them to copy modifications from other players in Feedback and Reverb weather. Additionally, if they echoed a Receiver, the Receiver would become an Echo, and echoing another Echo would result in both of them becoming Static.

The Microphone remained offline until Season 24, where Parker MacMillan IIIII gained control of it during Earlsiesta and it returned to being Online. This cued the Microphone’s first on-site appearance, with MacMillan IIIII using its abilities to directly communicate with Fans.

Throughout the Second Grand Siesta, the Microphone repeatedly came on and offline alongside posting “TUNING”[21], often followed by a worried reaction from MacMillan IIIII on Twitter. It was eventually revealed that the Microphone was tuning into different realities to present to the Fans Short Circuits, in which the Microphone would only be active for two weeks before once again shorting out and turning Offline. During these Circuits, Fans could vote to Discharge a player from that universe, turning them to Static and helping power the Microphone.

Theories

COMMUNITY REPORTS
The remainder of this article contains lore created collaboratively by the Blaseball community.

Fans have speculated about the nature and identity of the microphone since it's inception, and some of the known theories are recorded below.

Wyatt Theory

Several fans have speculated that The Microphone contains the voice of the original Wyatt Mason, based on The Microphone's sudden appearance as a direct reaction to The Unmasoning, as well as the account's mysterious use of the word "Wyatt."

Vocalization Theory

According to some[citation needed], The Microphone has not seemed to speak with one consistent voice - instead speaking in various, heavily reverberating voices heavily reminiscent of many of Blaseball's announcers. Many debates have taken place as to whether The Microphone mimics voices spoken into its replicas, whether it captures a small fragment of the being of casters it finds worthy, or if these happen to be some sort of shared blaseball reverie. Some of the voices that have been reported as being utilized by The Microphone are:

It is speculated that the different fonts used by @BlaseballMic are meant to represent these various voices, but nothing conclusive has been determined to either confirm or deny this theory.
