Player History

Melton Campbell is a lava elemental formed in Kīlauea, the most active volcano in Hawai‘i. Wanting to remain magma and free to travel forever, the spirit sought out Our Lady of Perpetual Friday for her blessing to never turn to solid rock. She granted its request and also gifted it a soup can that would never melt, enchanted to stay cold, so that it could have a vessel to live in that would last forever along with it. Due to Campbell's semi-malleable nature, it tends to have a fluid appearance; however, it most often either takes a humanoid shape or simply remains a pool of lava in its aforementioned soup can.

While Campbell has been on the Fridays since the Return of Blaseball, it had remained in the Shadows until season 22. However, it was still an active member of the team and contributed in many ways to both team spirit and logisticals. Since season one, Campbell has worked the decks at KTGI, the Hawai‘i Fridays' premier radio station. It also can frequently be found tending to ‘ōhi‘a lehua trees at nearby lava flows. Before his feedback to the Lovers, it would often bring some of the flowers to former teammates and captain Fletcher Yamamoto. Campbell also enjoys sitting in the fire at the traditional Fridays' cookouts, often startling visiting players, and is very vocal about its extreme distaste for capitalism and a certain similarly named soup company in interviews.

Since joining the Fridays active roster, Campbell has become most well known for accidentally, and sometimes intentionally, destroying blaseball equipment, most notably melting bats and other spare soup cans. This has worked out well for the rest of the team, as it gives Yosh Carpenter ample opportunities to practice his wood carving and helps the team keep the beaches of Hawai‘i free of trash. Not everyone is as thrilled about Campbell's habit, however, as it will occasionally dissolve the ball when catching it during games, much to the Umpires' frustration.
