Tragically, within a season of joining the Lovers, Yamamoto suffered an allergic reaction that severely hampered his ability to play blaseball. Yamamoto was quoted in the aftermath as saying, "[TWEET] PEANUTS! [Tweet], I’m so [tweetin’] tired. What’s a bird gotta do to get a nap around here?"

News of the incident travelled through the Lovers’ polycule to partial treant and total cinnamon bun Milo Brown, who at the time was on a break from active play in order to focus on his role as Head Cheerleader and spend more time with his boyfriend. Brown, having a longstanding history of being a caring friend to animals and particularly birds, reportedly made a squeaking noise and covered his mouth with his hands upon hearing the news. He reportedly then said, "Oh my gosh, a bird got hurt?! I gotta help I gotta help I gotta help!!!" before running out of the room. Brown reemerged with a sword-bat that had been specially made for him and which, according to reports, he had previously never picked up in his life, and, with a determined expression, said, "Let’s hecking do this."

Brown threw himself heart and soul into the cause of avian rehabilitation. In addition to volunteering to take Yamamoto’s place on the team to allow the bird captain some much-needed rest, he enlisted the help of the Lovers, with carpenter Yosh Carpenter at the helm, to build a fully equipped bird sanctuary in the shade of the PolyHedron. By the end of Season 12, it was ready for Yamamoto to move in. Upon seeing the finished sanctuary, Yamamoto reportedly said, "Hey, kid. This is really [tweetin’] nice. Thank you so much." He then reportedly sighed and continued, "I’m really gonna miss blaseball, though." Brown reportedly responded to this with record-breakingly huge puppy eyes before gasping, pointing at the branches growing out of his hair, and exclaiming, "You can sit on my head during games!!" In light of this development, Yamamoto has been appointed to the role of Head Head Cheerleader for Season 13. It is rumored, though not confirmed, that he will tweet especially loudly during Fridays games.
