History

Ephraim Ladd was born in Columbus, OH to Egyptian-American parents. His father was a doctor and his mother was a schoolteacher, teaching physical science. His mother's work was instrumental in Ladd's interest in astronomy. As a child, Ladd kept his eyes on the stars and his passion for space exploration did not wane in adulthood. He pursued Aerospace Engineering in college. Several years later, Ladd was recruited for a new initiative in the NASWA—the Space Emergency Ambulance Service, or SEAS.

On Day XXX, XXXX, Ladd’s vessel received a distress call from a nearby planet. The crew landed and found several travelers who claimed to be stranded after a ship malfunction. Ladd’s crew invited the survivors on board. The survivors quickly revealed themselves to be pirates and took control of the ship. The pirates ejected most of Ladd’s crew, leaving Ladd and a nurse on board. The two hostages eventually escaped through a spare shuttle. However, it was meant for one.

Ephraim Ladd woke up in unfamiliar territory, surrounded by other people who called themselves the Ohio Worms. They informed him that a wormhole had spit him out into a crater that neighbored their station. Ladd was recruited again—this time to become a pitcher in a splort called, Blaseball 2, and won four championships with the team.

The fate of the nurse is currently unknown.

Back on Earth

Ladd, along with the Worms, escaped the Breach during Season β13 of the IBL. The team found themselves in the Wapakoneta Air, Space, and Worm Museum and Ballpark, or WASWMB, which was not far from what once was Ladd’s hometown. However, Mr. and Mrs. Ladd have yet to attend a game.

Their fates are currently unknown.

Ladd currently lives in the museum as the lease for his previous home had expired after he left the planet. He is close with Kaz Fiasco, with Fiasco often calling him, "Dad". When asked for clarification on the parentage of Fiasco, both players had neglected to comment. The Worms players consider Ladd the heart of the team. Ladd often comforts his teammates after tough games, one being the Season 13, Day 31 game for example, when Ladd had walked the Dale ten times and the Worms were shutout 0-14.

He is not very good at pitching. Knowing this, Ladd had decided to leave the roster for the betterment of the team during the Season β15 election. He now spend his days tending to Cantus Hojo's garden, catching up with an old childhood friend, and being the test audience for Loubert Ji-Eun's sloundclloud mixes.

• He has a rock bat, but rarely uses it. It is not in his room. He hasn't noticed.
• Ladd has facial scars that look like flowers blooming under his eyes. Sometimes, he gets self-conscious and wears a helmet to hide them.
