time on the garages

Apricots (talkcontribs)

hi hi hi hi hi hi!

it's been so long since york was on the garages (riv (rest in vault)) but we had a good chunk of lore while he was here !!!

the tldr on it all:

  • york is now roughly 20 years old, having grown a bit older since becoming a teen on the PODS
  • york's going through a rebellious phase, having never gotten to have one due to skipping a good chunk of his teenage years. this is mostly spurred on by paparazzi and tabloids continually publishing nasty rumors about him (including a rumor about a fight with his stepmom), as well as lingering complex feelings towards being resurrected and how he's often treated as the eight year old he was at the height of his fame
    • this is heavily inspired by real life stories of how child stars are treated by the media as adults
    • examples of his rebellious phase include giving himself a botched haircut, writing a punk album, flipping off reporters and teammates, and smashing a guitar at home plate
  • york lives in terrell bradley's spare room
    • a large portion of the update is an interview with bradley where he explains the reasoning behind york's rebellious phase (this part will be xposted to bradley's page)
  • york is friends with a few of the troublemakers on the team, but the older members of the team are wary of him. oliver mueller holds animosity towards him and demands an apology for the shelling of oliver loofah. (this will be xposted to mueller's page)
  • outside of games, york is honestly very quiet and keeps to himself. he larps with malik destiny and is building a pedalboard with magi ruiz and sparks beans. he hopes to debut this pedalboard in season 18.

and here's the proposed additions in article format

Adding format for IRM as per updates to the formatting. Proposing it gets set up as an vignette as per it's existing format.

title=Death and Return To Play

Intro=After York’s Silk’s death near the end of the 14th regular season the Moist Talkers went on to win the championship in his name. However sometimes the dead are not allowed to rest. While there is no definitive answer for how York returned to play - here is what we’ve heard around the Rumour Mill

As indicated in this announcement, we are locking York Silk's page as part of Preservation efforts occurring on Blaseball.com. Any contributors who were in the process of developing lore for York Silk prior to his Preservation may still submit lore proposals, but the page will remain locked for editing except to add such lore. Lore must be written as if the contributors had no knowledge of what was coming after the end of Season 17, Day 99, and cannot extend beyond that point in time.

Joining the Moist Talkers

After being released from the Shelled One’s Pods, Silk fell to Sunken Halifax. Eye witnesses reported that during his descent he was caught midair by a 4th dimension hand believed to be from Polkadot Patterson. These accounts have not been verified as it is hazardous to look upon 4th dimensional constructs for an extended period.

Due to Silks rapid growth after being unshelled as well as consent from his Mother he was approved to reside in the Gleek Arena dormitories until he felt he was acclimated. During this period Silk established a close friendship with teammates Jesus Koch and Commissioner Vapour, the group being nicknamed the “teen squad” by the rest of the Moist Talkers. This friendship, along with the aid of Polkadot Patterson’s numerous connections to the Sunken Halifax Housing Authority, eventually led to Silk moving out of Gleek Arena, he currently resides in a shared domicile with both Koch and Vapour. Silk still maintains contact with his Mother and former teammates in Hawaii, with the former sending Silk regular care packages of Hawaii snacks.

Lacking the formal education of his early adolescence, Silk is currently being tutored by Mooney Doctor, whose teaching methods have been described by Silk as “Thorough for the most part, except when she tears up the textbooks and calls the writers ‘Narrow Minded Philistines!’”. Also, in an interview with the Halifax Gazette York excitedly claimed that he was being taught french by his teammate Ziwa Mueller, adding it to his vocabulary along with his two native languages, English and Ōlelo Hawai‘i.

York Silk Crabs Era Addition proposal

The Necro-Era: York joins the Crabs

After being obliterated by a rogue umpire in Season 14, the Baltimore Crabs identified a great opportunity to reach out to the rest of the league and prove how caring and respectful the carcinization process can be. They quickly scuttled into his open grave and retrieved his fireblasted remains, with the intention of bringing him back to life and spreading the good word of Crabs to the rest of the league.

This, predictably, went down like a lead balloon.

While the Crabs were a little upset to discover that most of the league does not appreciate grave-robbing a child and forcibly transforming them into a hideous crab-monster, more shell than man, haunted by the terrible things they saw in the Great Beyond and saddled with a blood debt for their unscheduled return, they felt that they did a good job. Sure, maybe his eyes are a little sunken and a little matte-black now, and sometimes he screams for hours at a time, but who doesn't? That's just the Crabs' way, baby.

(didnt know i needed to do this, sorry!)

Hello, I wanted to let you know that we see this entry has been added back to the wiki in exactly this form. You may not be familiar with our Help:Contribution Policies, please give them a read. You may also be interested in reading Help:Critiquing Proposals for ideas on how to receive feedback.

I'm taking your entry down again for two reasons. One, you received feedback from UnabashedlyRose that was fairly unambiguous. Your entry is being read as mean spirited, and you need to address that. At the admin level, we agree that this entry is mean spirited.

Two, you aren't going to get a lot of traction here posting an entry that has a high chance of antagonizing readers. This needs to be majorly rewritten to better align with existing lore for York Silk, as well as keeping in mind that while you may not directly reap the consequences of arguments stemming from a post like this, many other people will.

You need to make changes in alignment with the points made by UnabashedlyRose, or at least work with her to create a better entry. Posting this entry again without making any changes will result in a temporary ban.

The "grave robbing a child" is a little morose, and doesn't exactly line up with the aging stuff that was covered in the Moist Talker's section, plus I know there's been a pretty concentrated effort to get York aged up in lore, so I don't really want to pull us back to that.
I also want to be conscious of making the Crabs out to be the mustache twirling villains of the piece. The "how caring and respectful the carcinization process can be", "spreading the good word of Crabs to the rest of the league.", "forcibly transforming them into a hideous crab-monster" and "That's just the Crabs' way, baby." all come off as pretty mean-spirited towards the team, and aren't really in line with the rest of the Crabs Lore or with York's Lore.
I'd be happy to help you rewrite something if you want to make an addition to the page, but I'm not sure this is really something we want on the page in it's current form.
