Shelled One

The Peanut is an entity of unknown origin and intention which has appeared during pivotal moments in Blaseball history, especially surrounding those that incur 502 Bad Gateway events. Not to be confused with peanuts, The Peanut is a large rotating peanut that displays ominous messages to Blaseball participants during times of siesta. While The Peanut is on the site, no games can be viewed, no items can be purchased, and no ballots can be cast.

The Peanut was thought to be a symbol of and/or punishment for Blasphemy, but its additional reappearance during the events of The Grand Unslam have called that into question.

History of Appearances

The Peanut first appeared during the events of Blasphemy after the Peanut Fraud on Season 3 Day 2 (Monday, August 3, 2020). The Peanut appeared with the word "BLASPHEMY" in red text and a string of letters above in dark gray text that could be revealed by highlighting. The Peanut appeared again during the additional short periods of Blasphemy, again with the word "BLASPHEMY."
The Peanut appeared for a second time after the events of The Grand Unslam on Season 3 Day 74 (Thursday, August 6, 2020). The Peanut was visually identical to its first appearance, but the red text underneath changed every few minutes to display the following series of messages:
- HELLO
- DID YOU TASTE THE INFINITE?
- I AM BENEVOLENT
- I AM A SNACK
- I AM A LEGUME
- I WAS BENEVOLENT
- YOU ARE INSATIABLE
- WHERE IS YOUR RESTRAINT?
The Peanut made a third appearance during the Season 3 Post-Season (Saturday, August 8, 2020). It retained the same visuals as its prior two appearances, and the red text underneath changed every few minutes to display a series of ominous messages, after which the website briefly returned and peanuts were available for purchase in buckets of one thousand for a thousand coins:
