Proposed Update for Jesús's time in Yellowstone

1
OleMountainMoss (talkcontribs)

Proposed addition to this page to describe Koch in Yellowstone, season 20 and beyond:

Roamin' to Yellowstone

After roamin' to the Yellowstone Magic on the Super Roamin' Fifth Base, Koch became fast friends with many members of the team. He quickly grew close with Bonk Jokes, who preceded him in the lineup. Jokes dared him to drop the fifth base in the Pies stadium as a prank. Koch followed through, leaving the base and his travelling days behind him.

Though his decision to quit roamin' was perhaps an impulsive one, Koch didn't regret it. Settling down in Yellowstone felt right. He bonded with his teammates (including Curry Aliciakeyes and Tiana Wheeler) over pranks and weird food choices, and even taught Bonk Jokes to party. He became a counselor at Spell Scout Summer Camp, where he led canoe trips and swim lessons.

Despite the weak cell signal in the park, Koch kept in touch with the friends he made in Halifax, especially Commissioner Vapor.  He also continued to stream video games whenever he could.

Hello contributors,

An update was made to Koch's lore today by User:JustASplortsFan. Since the addition was made without following the Help:Contribution Policies, I have gone ahead and rolled it back.

JustASplortsFan, please feel free to re-add your contribution after making a post here on the Talk page and allowing your addition to undergo the 24-hour discussion period. I recommend all contributors familiarize themselves with the linked Policies above to keep changes from requiring moderation.

I know this player has a lot of changes happening quickly due to Super Roamin'. Thank you all for your patience and diligence in making sure policies are observed at all times.

The Talkers would like to set up the IRM for Travel Updates from Koch's impending Super Roamin' travels. It would mainly include entries from his travel blog and newspaper columns about his travels, though it could also include other sources of information about his journey. The idea is to have a good place for teams he visits to add things that may be short and/or somewhat disconnected from other entries, since he won't be on any one team for long. The IRM will be an addition to the page, not a replacement for the current content.

I have written drafts of two initial IRM entries: an entry from Koch's blog about preparing to roam, and an article from the Halifax Gazette about an ATV camper van thing the team has made for him to travel in. These are both based on pulling together ideas from a lore jam we held for this. I have also posted these in the Talkers' lore channel, and may update them if I get feedback there, but I expect the main content won't change.

Title: Super Roamin’ Fifth Base travels

Term: Travel Update

Intro: In the season nineteen election, Jesús Koch received the Legendary Super Roamin' Fifth Base, causing him to travel around the ILB. He has started a blog to document his travels. As well, some splorts columnists, especially at the Halifax Gazette, have been known to update their readers on his journey during slow news weeks. The item below may be one of Koch’s blog entries, a newspaper column about his travels, or an entry from one of the sporadically updated fan blogs that reports on him.

IRM entry one

Blog entry – Jesús Koch’s blog – Preseason 20

Welcome to my new travel blog! I promised I’d keep everyone back home updated, and this seems like a good way to do that, though CV – that’s Commisioner Vapor – tells me blogs are dead.

Packing for this is hard. CV has promised to keep my room as it is, so I can still stay here when I get a chance to spend time in Halifax, and also I don’t need to worry about what to do with the stuff that I’m not bringing with me. That helps a lot. In return, I have promised to send back local Doritos flavours for Budy. Don’t tell CV, but I’d do that anyway.

I may just pack a few changes of clothes and my guitar for now, and get CV to ship me anything I really miss. And of course I’ll take the new jacket the team got me, with an ORB patch and space for any patches I collect on my travels. I still miss Scorpler’s Jacket and the patches I had on it, but I think I’m looking forward to building a new collection.

I think I’m looking forward to most of this, actually. The last time I left a home was the Alternation, which, well, it sucked. But this’ll be different, because I can still stay in contact with my friends and visit occasionally, and because I’ll be travelling to places I know a little about and want to see more of. I won’t say I’m not a little nervous, but at the moment excitement is winning out over nerves.

See you soon – in person if you’re the team I’m headed to, in that video chat app you made me install if you’re CV, and here on my new blog otherwise!

IRM entry two

Talkers Batter’s Home Away From Home – Halifax Gazette, Season 20, Day 2

Halifax splorts fans have been in an uproar about the impending departure of Moist Talkers batter Jesús Koch. We caught up with Koch after the season opener to find out how he plans to travel between teams. We learned that the whole team has been busy this offseason helping him modify an ATV to travel in, so he’ll have his own space wherever he goes. “Augusto [Reddick] suggested a camper van,” Koch told us, “but then we realized that with ILB teams in locations like Tokyo, Hades, and the Core, I’d need something that could handle different terrain.”

We asked how this would help with crossing the Atlantic Ocean, but Koch just said “it’s an all terrain vehicle” and then changed the subject to talk about how it had been customized. So we don’t know if it’s a standard ATV or some kind of flying device, but we do know it has a full sized bed and a surprising amount of storage.

At this point it’s not clear whether Koch will always be arriving in his new ATV. When asked if teams he roams to would need to find parking spots for it, he said, “Well, it is a lot of driving, so I think sometimes I might take Morse up on his offer to give me rides instead. Or I could just take the bus.”

Update: Just realized the Travel Updates Registry will need slightly different intro text, so here's how the last sentence will change:

> The updates below may include Koch’s blog entries, newspaper columns about his travels, and entries from the sporadically updated fan blogs that report on him.

The first IRM has a typo--I'm not sure if it's supposed to be for Season 20 or Season 21?

Absotively (talkcontribs)

Should be season 20. I will fix it. Thank you!

Absotively (talkcontribs)

Am going to change the Gazette article to specify they caught up with Koch after the Day 1 game, because he was swept Elsewhere in game 2. Will assume the article went to press before that.

(addition to Scorpler’s jacket section) Before being purged by the Blaseball Management, Koch’s jacket had begun to accumulate patches given to him by his teammates in an attempt to make Koch feel a greater sense of ownership over the Jacket. Known patches that were attached to the jacket include: Koch’s Jacket (Reportedly given to Koch by York Silk) Foxy Grandpa (Reportedly given to Koch by Greer Lott) Certified Sugar Mama (Reportedly given to Koch by Jenkins Good) MLG PRO Subscribe to xX_CV_SOGGERS_Xx.ttv (Clearly given by Commissioner Vapor)

Time with the Moist Talkers

After coming to terms with the anxieties he had being compared to the “original Jesús”, Koch found a role on the team as the close friend and pseudo-caretaker of Commissioner Vapor and York Silk. Dubbed the “Teen Squad” by the rest of the team, despite Koch being older than the other two, the three lived in a shared apartment which they were able to find thanks to the help of Polkadot Patterson. There Koch began to widen his horizons and engage in more hobbies outside of the Blaseball Diamond.

Joining Teammate Cedric Spliff on multiple outings Koch picked up an interest in both needle felting and dice moulding after discovering he had exceptional finger dexterity. Additionally, during long term siestas, Koch has been seen acting as an assistant Blaseball coach for former teammate Ortiz Morse’s Blittle league team. Reportedly, Koch has earned the nickname “Uncle Coke after multiple Blittle league players mistakenly mispronounced his name.

After the incineration and subsequent revival of teammate and close friend York Silk, Koch began to return to previous patterns of self isolation, this was exacerbated by his extended time spent in Elsewhere which he refuses to comment on publicly. Eventually with the support of his teammates and fellow “Teen squad” member Commissioner Vapor, Koch was able to return to his position on the team and confront teammate York Silk about the emotional gap that had seemingly formed between them. However before the two were able to reconcile Silk was transferred to the Seattle Garages. Reports indicate the two have not spoken since this transfer.

Trivia Koch is a skilled breakdancer. This skill was first shown in a livestream broadcast by Commissioner Vapor wherein Vapor asked Koch to “do something cool”. It is to this day still Vapor’s most watched stream. Koch insists that he is only slightly shorter than Commissioner Vapor, making him one of the tallest members of the team. This claim has been disputed following the multiple infusions of Greer Lott and the Return of Richmond Harrison in Season 17.
