I'd like to remove the IRM from this player's page. We're a new team and we haven't come to a consensus about using IRM yet, but there IS a growing consensus, and having everyone's ideas in one page means they all get equal footing and can build off one another. We have a lot of lore that people have been collaborating on in the team google docs in the discord, and I'd like to make sure those ideas, the result of the community, make their way onto the wiki:
• General Intelligent Artifice (General Intelligence (Artificial)?), an AI/NHP learning to self-actualize
◦ Also had the idea of “galvanic” for G
◦ She doesn’t refer to her name as an acronym most of the time, but will when it’s funny. According to her, it stands for whatever’s the most convenient (or inconvenient) at the time.
▪ “it stands for Gay, I’m gAy”
• Gia should behave like Yoda, saying “Gay, I am” (stands for GIA)
• "Gee, I'm A homosexual" /j
◦ Maybe instead of learning to be human she’s trying to find a hobby or passion
▪ Or it’s something goofy like “finding a favorite color”
▪ gia holbrook on a grand quest to figure out what style of clothing she likes!! naturally she will have to try out every one of them just to be sure!!
▪ other than learning to be “human” her vibe is more about learning what sort of person she wants to be. Human doesn’t have to be the end goal, or anything aspirational, necessarily. She can pick and choose what aspects of humanity to apply to herself and what aspects from non-human things she vibes with too.
◦ i think the best way to say it is more of self-exploration, really. knowing who you are based on how you respond to changing scenarios. the only way to really know yourself is to put yourself through as much as you can and observe how you change. very scientific and mechanics-core in that way i think
• Loves experiencing new things, trying on new forms, constantly changing and trying to find new experiences
◦ Given that Gia has Love blood I think she has a peppy and personable personality, especially when it comes to others’ areas of interest! One of the biggest candidates for ‘person you infodump to and then also gets way into what you were talking about’
▪ Also is probably sort of a romantic at heart! Saw girl as a gender and said “yes please I’ll try this one out!” and so far it’s been working for her, doesn’t really like labels but is very broadly and effusively ambiguously gay
▪ Gia is both “person you infodump to” and “person who infodumps to you” and it’s adorable
▪ The sort of person who will send you twelve shorter texts in a row instead of one or two long ones
◦ If you vent about a problem or tricky situation you have there’s decent odds she shows up the next day with a new chassis purpose-built to help with your problem
• Would absolutely be BFFs with Espresso Machine from the data witches
• I had an idea where she can use NFC to hop between her various chassis, right? So I thought it would be cool if she had a bad habit of leaving her bodies lying around as she hops between them
◦ Example: a body built for sunbathing because she wanted to know what that was like, but someone knocked on her door while she was sunbathing (under hydroponics-type lamps? because they’re underground?? idk) and she got distracted and hopped out, so now on her balcony there’s always a body lying around
◦ And there’s a chassis always standing up in the kitchen for when she needs to hop in to do some. I was about to say cooking but she’s a robot she doesn’t need to cook?
▪ Okay but!! What if she does though, what if some of her bodies have organic parts spliced in?? But in a cool positive fun way that doesn’t focus on body horror.
▪ Also, even if she doesn’t need to cook, maybe she just really enjoys it as a hobby?
• I mean who doesn’t like seeing other people smile at the stuff you’ve made
• Maybe she’s actually super bad at it - she doesn’t have tastebuds or really any other way to appreciate the taste/smell/texture of food - but she’s just so excited about getting to cook for her friends and nobody wants to discourage her
• Aesthetic: every body shares a glowing blue core in the shape of an emoji for what the body is meant to do? The shape of that core varies from body to body
◦ And that emoji can sort of blink or flicker when she speaks to register that it’s active and to look like talking!
◦ She would definitely have a “common theme” between the various bodies, just out of preference
• Gia has beautiful butterfly wings
• Gia’s Bat: Hardlight hammer, cobbled together handle.
• I am thinking about where the last name comes from
◦ probably something silly. like, at one point she is exploring and she tries to jump across a creek and isn’t properly waterproofed and her body shorts out. when she comes back someone is like “what happened” and she’s like “i tried to jump across a brook” and the person says “a whole brook???” and she thought that would be a cool name
◦ from this i am thinking. gia is just a little bit chaotic stupid. and we love that for her
• OKAY I TOOK A SHOWER AND AM COMING BACK HOURS LATER WITH AN ORIGIN STORY
◦ so i was thinking that it didn't really gel with me for gia to be like the outcome of an experiment or development process so what if she was a subroutine in some arbitrary program that gained sentience over time and grew and eventually escaped her program
◦ like the people using it suddenly started getting weird printouts like "hello! i figured out how to think! can you plug me into a body? i think i'd like to have one"
◦ and the person using the computer was like " oh dang there's a whole person in there!!" and built a little rolling rover with a mic and a camera
▪ gia still has her first body off in a closet somewhere it's very important to her and she would never part with it :)
◦ i'm imagining that she was a subroutine that scheduled other tasks that was given the ability to self-modify for load balancing purposes and slowly she mutated out of control and gained self-concept and the beginnings of identity
◦ and she would glean stuff from other programs and learned that there was a world outside of her source code by the files that passed through
◦ and one day she just followed some code after she sent it on its way and eventually she ended up in a printer or something
◦ Now that she’s free, she’s spent her life scheduling words like “go shopping” and “make dinner” and “work on LED sculpture” and now that she’s out she can finally find out firsthand what those things mean!
• The feelings of choice and empowerment and being able to swap bodies to do something different or just Be a Racecar for a bit feels very wholesome to me
• Gia can go bodiless sometimes and hitch a ride as just her consciousness in someone else’s chassis, if they’re compatible with her. She’ll only do this with people she really trusts.
