History

Born with only a left ear, Winkler claims this has made his right ear twice as strong, and that he can hear which type of pitch is being thrown. However, he can also hear his hecklers twice as well, and rival teams use this to their advantage when he steps up to the plate.

When asked his thoughts about the incineration incident that led to his inclusion in the team, Winkler has only said that he "heard it coming."
