Removing the Religion in Blaseball Link

Continuing a discussion regarding the status of Religion in Blaseball from https://www.blaseball.wiki/index.php?title=Topic:Wvvkigof7qsfy1kf&topic_showPostId=wvwxjn1svdfzksbz&fromnotif=1#flow-post-wvwxjn1svdfzksbz

TLDR: I proposed deleting the page due to sensitivity issues compounded with irrelevance to greater Blaseball lore. @Inumo has responded, saying that the page can be edited and currently links to multiple pages. I reproposed removing it from the TDE navbox instead, and Inumo has responded saying they would strongly prefer fixing it and to avoid isolating the page in order to delete it, as it is both against the spirit of the wiki and because of the high quality of the page.

To address the issue of quarantining the page- I don't fully understand the argument that it's in the navbox, because it's important because it's linked to many pages...because of the navbox. This seems like a pretty circular argument on its importance? For example, the Glolf War is at least mentioned in other pages, such as Cedric Gonzales and Ronan Jaylee's. There is a reason on why it is there when not every piece of TDE lore is there and relevance seems like it should be part of it. Secondly, as you've pointed out, we can very well keep in mind that the standards for an Era Navbox is very different from the standards of deleting a page wholesale, with the latter being much higher. If we can remove it from the Navigation Box then I'm happy to let this lie, and there will be a talk page trail about trying to dupe the wiki into deleting it.

Finally, the whole thing makes me feel that this page is being kept in the navbox only because of the quality of writing, not because it is especially relevant or important to the Discipline Era or Blaseball. No page links to the Religion in Blaseball page and quick search of all mentioned religious orders (eg Blaz, Puceys) doesn't seem to return anything. This, to me, seems like an unideal standard for the wiki- many things can be beautifully written and inappropriate for the wiki.

Which leads me to why i think it should be removed from the navigation box- the navbox is one of the ways new fans learn about the discipline era, now nearly two years ago. It is possibly the easiest way to onboard fans unfamiliar to Blaseball and the community's culture. I don't think it's ideal to have a page that's just.. not relevant? And to be frank, I am leery of putting a fairly heavy topic at front and center when there are so many pages & fans using questionable allegories to real world politics, events and religions that are sanitized by being 'fictional'. I'm not advocating any wiki-wide actions, but I do hope to address these issues as they come up. I feel that removing this page from the navbox is the best compromise- it is no longer part of the 'main' events of the Discipline Era and is hotlinked from 20 diff pages because its in the navbox but it can still be kept on the wiki.

The Blaseball-Glolf Clonflict was created on July 30th. Ronan Jaylee, one of the first players to reference Glolf as part of player lore, did not reference Glolf until the day after, and that reference was made by another author. Point being, the BGC predated any player lore of the BGC; it was put on the wiki as a potential source of inspiration, and some contributors decided to make use of it. This is to say: Religion in Blaseball is not "less relevant" to the Discipline Era than the Blaseball-Glolf Conflict just because no players reference it. RiB was just a source of lore prompts that other contributors chose not to adopt. It is part of the cultural experience of the Discipline Era; that is why we, the wikiteam, featured it at one point, and why it was put into the Discipline Era navbox. To reiterate the argument, it's in the navbox because it's important because it was part of the cultural event of Blaseball during this Era. As I said in my initial reply, if you can identify writing that is of similar quality, and ideally similarly relevant to that cultural period without being associated to teams or singular players (though I recognize that you weren't around at this point in time, and so may not be able to find something like that), I'd understand updating the navbox with that instead, but until then I see no reason to remove a page that is culturally representative of the Discipline Era. Also sign your Talk page posts with ~~~~; if you haven't used these kinds of Talk pages before, Wikipedia's help page is probably worth reading. I've fixed your signature for now by hand.
