A new rumor proposal for this page's IRM

Background

Mira Lemma is a foundry demon, a humanoid species not uncommon within the Core. Foundry demons are easy to recognize by their sturdy frame, horns, tail, and striking skin tones that typically range between pale pinks and dark cherry reds. This species also has some unique dietary needs for metals in addition to those more common in other humanoid species as well as some inorganic features consistent with its metallurgical origins. Many of the species have specific metals they prefer to eat, affecting blood color and minor physical traits. Lemma prefers copper and her blood is bluish due to this preference.

Lemma was always interested in bloxing in addition to hard mathematics and sciences alike. Her parents had discouraged her interest in the first, citing its brutish heritage even with modern DOWN-compliant practices and safety features, but Lemma was not one who could sit still in her passions. While Lemma was participating and thriving in the Minor Leagues of the prestigious splort of Blaseball, she found her true calling in bloxing, which she had continued to hide from her parents. For years this was her life, blaseball in view of her parents and bloxing in her time alone until her first Welderweight Championship victory; even with the comparative obscurity of bloxing, news had reached her parents who were conflicted. It wasn’t until after her second Welderweight Championship belt that Lemma joined the ILB, leading off for the Core Mechanics.

Hobbies

Mira Lemma is a restless individual who needs to keep her mind and her hands busy. Even now retired from professional bloxing, Lemma competes casually to keep active in the offseason. Her experience in combat sports has brought about a great deal of heuristic competence in the treatment of physical injuries. While she has a history of many other manual crafts, lately Lemma has been making full use of her new machining workshop, making small and large mechanical devices and replacements alike.

Alright, It's been six days. I'll go make it then.

IRM Formatting Added

LexaByteNV (talkcontribs)

In lieu of the recent update to IRMs, I will be giving the one on this page the filebox format as it feels most appropriate

Possible fanart additions?

I don't know how to do this myself so I can't but Captora_ on twitter seems to have some designs for Mira. [ here, here, and here ] We could also add some text with a description for their appearance in the body of the page. Someone would have to reach out to the artist to ask if it's okay to use on this page- I can do that if needed. I'm not in the Mechanic's Discord, and I don't know if any lore has been made for Mira yet, but I figured I'd post here. (I also don't know how to add a fanart section to pages anyway)

Hillexed2 (talkcontribs)

actually these images never went up

Hillexed2 (talkcontribs)

I'd like to add a section on various projects Mira's worked on!

- helping turn off gravity if a Core resident wants to build the giant robots of their dreams even if it can't support their own weight

- tweaking a pair of holographic arms to add boxing gloves for a four-armed punching technique

- helping rehabilitate gambling addicts

- factoring large numbers for fun, breaking RSA in seconds

- various recreational math things (anyone have any suggestions?)

Objections were raised, so IRM isn't being deleted.

Hillexed2 (talkcontribs)

I'd like to remove the IRM from this player's page. This player only has one rumor and is the result of a collaborative lore jam, and new ideas can be added to the page and enhance existing consensus instead of replacing the entire thing. We haven't come to a consensus about using IRM yet, and the addition of IRM while we're so new and before we as a community could have a conversation about it makes me a bit uncomfortable.

Beelijah (talkcontribs)

The team has already said a lot about how we want to use IRM, and taking down the opportunity to put up IRM would be unfair

Objections were raised, so IRM isn't being deleted.

Summary by Beelijah

re-installation of irm after waiting period ended

Inumo (talkcontribs)

The wiki mods were alerted to the installation of the IRM without prior discussion to this page. At time of discovery, it was empty with default settings for the full page. The installation was performed by Beelijah, who can reinstall the IRM after 24 hours if there are no objections (though we recommend waiting to install the IRM until there are actually entries to fill it with).

- mira is a Foundry Demon and creates order from chaos, messing with probability. instinctively creating order from chaos unless she's deliberately trying not to

- yes she can grab individual atoms like maxwell's demon, there's just so many of them it's impractical

- Mira is out here as part of a collection of supernatural/paracausal folk who exist to break the laws of physics to make the core work weird.

- mira “the laws of thermodynamics are more like suggestions” lemma

- does math for fun, loves hanging out with sibr until they try to run a random experiment and she accidentally affects probability

- A lust demon but not in the typical way. It's more just get desire to create new art?

- does chless boxing

- her bat is her boxing gloves. she punches the ball

she dislikes physics for the same reason that people who've worked in fast food avoid eating it - she's seen too much of what goes on behind the scenes to ever be comfortable with it again.

"Sure, it looks that way from the outside, but it's a complete hackjob of a system.  You ever try to determine both the position and velocity of a particle?  It's not that it's literally impossible, it's just that the determinism engine is so buggy that we've never gotten both halves of it working at the same time.  Trust me, after a couple years working as a quantum mechanic you'd hate physics too."

Anti-entropy demons don't play a lot of games that involve randomness, for obvious reasons - it's just not a part of their culture.  So when Mira's teammates first invited her to play cards with them, and it was her turn to shuffle and deal, someone at the table half-jokingly accused her of cheating because she ended up dealing the cards in perfect order. (Like "hey, that's a cute trick, you're really good at stacking the deck, now let's play for real".)  It bothered the heck out of her because she would never cheat in a game and she literally didn't know until that moment that her anti-entropy would express itself that way.  Anyway, after a bit of experimentation they realized that a) no, she wasn't trying to cheat, and b) everything worked just fine as long as someone else did the shuffling before she dealt.  The other person apologized, and Mira got to learn a whole new variety of games she'd never played before.
