Tot's resemblance to King Tutankhamun of Egypt is due to him being his actual cousin. However he was considered the black sheep of the royal family, to a degree in which he was essentially erased from his family history.
 
  
When King Tut died, Tot was next in line to rule. Upon realizing this, Tot faked his own mummification, so that the duty of being King would pass over him. Afterwards, he decided to continue wearing bandages, as he thought he looked "hot."
