Pronouns

Hey all, wanted to put it out here before I make any changes. It has been brought up a few times in Taco chats and everyone was good with it, but incase there are any objections, I am planning on changing Quitter's pronouns in the Rumours and Reports section to She/They, as most people refer to them with she/her pronouns throughout the Blaseball discords. I've only just gotten to see this and I think I'd really prefer if it was at least formatted as They/She, since Quitter being nonbinary is really really important to a lot of people, myself included. There are very few characters in Blaseball who 1) are portrayed as human and 2) use they/them pronouns exclusively, so it kinda hurts to see this and feel like one of them is being taken away. Okay so some people are worried that Quitter's pronoun change is erasing non-binary people. It's true that they were our only they/them only pronoun player that is also (probably) human. Should we revert the changes? Clockworkworm (talk) 19:45, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

I think something very important to keep in mind is that nonbinary people who use she/her or he/him pronouns are not any less nonbinary than those who don't. As far as myself and another captains memory serves us, Quitter's Rumours and Reports section originally was he/him, and then was swapped to they/them, and is now currently they/she. Lastly want to point out that the entire contents of the lore uses solely they/them pronouns, the change, as I originally specified, was to the Rumours and Reports section. I agree that NB people can and do use she/her and he/him pronouns, but the issue here I think is that people are going to assume Quitter isn't NB because of the use of she/her pronouns. Maybe the solution is to add in the main part of their page that they're non-binary? Clockworkworm (talk) 20:21, 7 October 2020 (UTC)

We are actually just talking about doing that in our taco stand! We want to encourage the fact that she is still NB. Our Taco Stand and our lore-engine are open to all visitors, so feel free to stop by and contribute to that section! We will post it here before it goes on the wiki, of course. I think for me and some other nonbinary people I know in the Blaseball community, it's not that nonbinary people who use non-they pronouns are less nonbinary but that there's a worrying trend in blaseball of nonbinary characters that everyone agrees are nonbinary getting art drawn of them, everyone assuming their gender based on the art, and then someone/people deciding it's too much trouble to stick to the pronouns people agreed on/deciding that "enough people are using different pronouns" to change them. Obviously everyone's canons are valid, but this is something I've noticed happening disproportionately to nonbinary characters @thatmerrywanderer#2581 on Discord -- Garages (talk) 21:10, 7 October 2020 (UTC)
