In the final days of the Discipline Era, Telephone suffered a number of personal tragedies, including being controlled by the SHELLED ONE and seeing her brother Sebastian incinerated for a second time. When the SHELLED ONE was defeated and the Grand Siesta started, Telephone withdrew from the public eye to live a quiet life with her polycule.
Telephone spent her time during the Grand Siesta recuperating, practicing her skateboarding, and failing the bar exam. Despite her lower profile, Telephone remains one of the most beloved figures in Blaseball. Telephone’s accounts of people recognizing her name but not realizing they were talking to her have gone viral on social media.
Upon the start of season 12, Telephone took the news of Blaseball’s return with grim acceptance. “Well,” said Jessica, blowing the dust off of Dial Tone. “I guess this was only ever gonna end one way.” A minor key, piano version of Call Me Maybe echoed through the streets as homerun heartthrob Jessica Telephone hopped on her skateboard and rode towards the stadium once more.
