Canonical Writeup of Events
Here is a brief theorycraft of technical events, as described by Society for Internet Blaseball Research:
1) Out by birds does not check if they have gotten completely out, which caused the initial problem
2) The game only checks for when outs is exactly 3 (or four provided they have fourth strike), rather then checking for more then 3. This is what lead to the immune to outs
3) For some reason, out by caught stealing runs it's own check, presumably using >3 instead of ==3, which allowed crowvertime to end
