Near the end of Season 18, Hotdogfingers began work on a robotic duplicate of herself, intended to replace her on the field so that she could retire from a splort that seemed determined to keep its grip on her. Although [something about moving from the Core to Boston], [something something] offer of help from fellow former Hall Star Caligula Lotus. Lotus's assistance took the form of using the Garden itself in the duplicate's construction, integrating living plants with robotic parts.

Hotdogfingers had no intention of making her duplicate sentient, but upon her activation at Season 19's Election, it very quickly became clear that she was. Whether this was a consequence of replacing Hotdogfingers by Alternation, of the Garden's involvement in her construction, or of something else entirely remains unknown. Hotdogfingers' Alternate quickly adopted the nickname "Jaybot" from her new teammates (as well as, less frequently, "Botdogfingers"),

Shortly before the ILB Semi-Centennial, Jaybot reportedly said to team captain Margarito Nava, "If Jaylen could make it through Day X, I can make it through this. I'll come back, promise."
