Talk:Lotus Mango/Archive

From Blaseball Wiki

Proposal for lore (omitting the "lineup player for the tokyo lift" header):

[Blaseball Career] The being known as Lotus Mango is composed of two discrete entities: A Model L5-CR63 (Construction Robot) produced by the now-defunct Lotus Co., and a mango tree (Mangifera indica). Examination of the robot has revealed extensive wear from time and exposure to the elements, with numerous repairs having been made over the course of their Blaseball career. According to reports made by team captain Stijn Strongbody, the two “have created a sort of symbiotic relationship.... Aside from supplying each other with energy, they’re almost connected on a deeper level than physical. Separating them would be a bad idea.” Additional investigation has shown that the connections between the mango tree’s nervous system and the artificial intelligence of the robot mimic the interconnectedness of the human brain. Additional research to investigate this phenomenon is pending.

Despite their original function as a construction robot, Lotus Mango seems to have taken remarkably well to baseball. Lift fans attribute this to the fact that “lifting I-beams all the time isn’t that different from lifting a bat, if you think about it.” Any attempts to investigate Mango’s source code for more information have failed, as in addition to poor style practice and numerous sections of code that seem to be entirely unused, the code seems to rewrite itself at a rate that makes any live analysis impossible.

[Personal Life]

Neither Mango herself nor her teammates seem to know her exact age, though radiocarbon dating suggests the mango tree was planted approximately 50 years prior to the start of Season 1. Mango has shown close attachments to all members of the Lift and is reported to be a strong force for promoting mindfulness and positive mental health practices among the team. Mango frequently lacks the ability to communicate vocally (likely due to a mechanical failure) and instead communicates primarily using sign language.

When not playing Blaseball, Mango has often been spotted in the mountainous areas to the northwest of Tokyo. When approached by fans, she will invite them to sit with her in silence, and observe nature. Those who participate in this ritual report feeling “oddly comforted. I mean, she’s just a robot with a tree, right? But I feel like she gets me. I might have to try this on my own sometime.” When Mango was approached for comment, none was given.Lordcakespy (talk)

Proposed section: [Lotus Mango (Plant Creature)] Lotus Mango (as the creature is known) is a human-sized sentient mass of plant matter. Their connection to Lotus Mango (the lineup player) is unknown, although they are frequently seen together. While the creature speaks in a language that is almost entirely unintelligible, they have many times gestured to themself while producing sounds that are remarkably similar to "Lotus Mango." While ultimately harmless, Mango (creature) is often known to be markedly chaotic in their actions, and is known to pull small pranks or gaze unnervingly at passersby in the Lift stadium. Most notably, Mango has been observed presenting Lift members with plants, small colorful objects, and frogs; it is theorized that Gerund Pantheocide's companion Frogslayer was brought to the Lift this way. Mango (creature) will also, occasionally, come up to the plate instead of Mango (robot), lending weight to the claim that the two are connected.Lordcakespy (talk) (Edited to be more in line with the IRM idea)

IRM

Hi I'm intending to implement the IRM for Lift players over the coming week Spotterdonut (talk) 10:54, 11 November 2020 (UTC)

Plant Entity Entry

I am moving an IRM entry for Lotus Mango to this Talk page so that it can go through the typical 24 hour public feedback period. I have preserved the whole text of the entry so that it is not lost. I have asked the original author to come here and claim the entry and perhaps suggest further improvements before it gets placed in the Lotus Mango Rumor Registry once again. Plant Entity

The blaseball player Lotus Mango is a strapping young plant creature who's cheerful personality uplifts everyone on his team. He's somewhat of klutz and has trouble tying his own shoelaces.

He loves blaseball and uses the strength he gets from his plant people genes to his advantage while playing games. Lotus mango, being a bit of an airhead, doesn't takes games as seriously as he should and his teammates often scold him for it. His plant powers are a mystery to everyone around him, and when asked on how his body functions, he laughs it off. Cashews grow out of his arms and thighs. No one knows why or how. He offers his teammates to eat them as a "healthy alternative" for the peanuts. Nobody dares to try the cashews

Personal Life

In his personal time, Lotus Mango is trying to boost his startup company for "Mango nutz". His "Mango nutz" are actually just the weird cashew-shaped tumors that fall off his body. The cashews taste "healthy" and "awesome" according to Lotus himself (Although no one else has ever had the guts to try them). He insists that his Mango Nutz will take over the blaseball world by storm. He is often seen on the streets in his nut stand promoting his nuts.
