National Park Services Standardized Irregularity Report

Documenting Researcher: Researcher Lestrange

Irregularity Designation: YS-002 (“A Place Between Above and Below”)

Irregularity Class: Native

Park Management Protocol: At least nine Park Ranger of at least Clearance Level Third Base should be stationed in the nearby ranger station at all times. In addition, a tenth ranger of CL Forth Base should be stationed to monitor the other rangers. Stationed rangers should at all times be concerned with preventing any guests or employees from entering the YS-002 site. Rangers are also expected to avoid conflict with any YS-002-B entities.

Stationed personnel should be equipped with a series of explosive charges, and trained in their use. In the case of a Code Green Crossover Scenario, personnel will be expected to collapse as much of the cave system as possible as a last resort.

Irregularity Description: YS-002 refers to a central region in the Yellowstone Caverns. While Park Services geologists originally believed the area to be physically connected as a hub to all other tunnels, recent electronic mapping has revealed YS-002’s location to be entirely non-Euclidian. Current estimates measure that first-time guests will likely reach YS-002 after █ hours in the caverns, while returning guests can find the area in almost half that time.

The actual site of YS-002 features a large cave with a vaulted ceiling of some ██ feet. The cave’s primary anomalous property exists in its central feature, a large stone bridge like structure which extends from the caves floor to its ceiling and features a corkscrew at its halfway point. This structure will be classified as YS-002-A from here on out. Any being or object that travels along YS-002-A past its halfway point will experience a seamless reversal in the universal gravitational forces, and from then on will experience up as down, and vice versa. This is reversable by traversing YS-002-A in the opposite direction, but otherwise permanent. A number of reflecting pools are also present around the room existing on both the floor and ceiling.

Opposite from YS-002’s entrance is the cave’s only exit, cut up against the cave’s ceiling. This area is mostly unexplored by Park Services but is theorized to lead into a set of Deep Caverns, the exact extent of which are unknown. Official Park Services reports are to deny the existence of any caverns past the YS-002 site. Several reports of figures near the cave’s exit have been recorded by Rangers stationed in the area, but no formal contact has been made. Reports consistently describe the figures as humanoid, and in garb recognizable as similar, but not exact, to the Yellowstone Park Ranger uniform. These entities are to be classified as YS-002-B, and should not, for any reason, be approached by any Park Ranger below CL Forth Base.

Additional Notes: Initial studies of the area in ████ found a skeleton clutching a locked container in one YS-002's reflecting pools. Inside the container were a rough set of geological maps depicting a mirrored Yellowstone Caverns and a journal describing their exploration. The writer claimed to be Lead Researcher ████ ████████ with dental records proving to be an exact match. The final page of the journal reads:
