IRM: Scam and Spam

Scam Likely (it/its) and Potential Spam (ti/tis) are a pair of grifters and Patrons of the Emblem Warhorse who are rarely separated. How they came to the bar is unknown, as they tell a different story whenever asked. In fact, very little of what they say is true, and much is designed to lure the unwary into giving them money or other valuables.

Spam is best known for telling long-winded stories. On the few occasions where ti has been witnessed not talking, it has always been to allow Scam or a mark a turn. Scam, in contrast, tends to be much more concise, rarely speaking except to directly further the pair’s current con.

Interestingly, interviews with past victims indicate that they always take precisely as much as a person can spare. Several, after being informed of this, said that it even accounted for emergencies they would soon have. It is currently unknown how they determine this, and given that this frequently result in their schemes having very low payouts, it is theorized that they care less about the money than the trickery.

While new visitors often have to be warned away from the pair, their engaging conversation is a good source of entertainment for patrons and all who can remember not to trust them.

Trivia:

- Both display the Emblem on their wallets.

- Neither has ever been witnessed taking something without the verbal consent of the person whose possession it is currently in, and Scam has occasionally needed to prompt people to do so. This includes bats and drinks.

- Some speculate that the two are married. When questioned, Scam refused to comment, while Spam launched into a detailed (and presumably false) description of the ceremony.

- While they order a wide variety of drinks, Scam tends to favor non-alchoholic beverages and Spam seems to prefer cocktails.
