Additionally, I am reformatting the Tillman Henderson page as preparation for the transfer to the Charleston Shoe Thieves. The page will contain three sections, in order from top to bottom, the IRM section, a Tillman vignettes scrambler, and the traditional historical section. The Crabs strongly suggest retaining the use of the IRM at the top of the page, as they believe the non-linear representation of Tillman is essential to the core of the character as a complete mess of an asshole.

Finally, because the IRM is sparse, I am waiving the 24h requirement for the Crabs to write 2-3 additional IRM entries for Tillman, as a final goodbye to the character before he leaves for the Shoe Thieves. BlaseballSteve || Admin, Founder || Steven_#3235 (talk) 20:39, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

100% Non-Negotiables

  • Tillman is a dirtbag/pile of petty annoyances, backed up with just enough talent that you can't write him off entirely, which is just even more annoying
  • Comedy oriented, if he’s awful to the point that he’s not funny, it doesn’t work
  • Tillman is also a mirror figure of all the terrible things you can be. He does the petty and cruel things you wish you could do, and shows you in the process how petty and cruel it is.
  • He’s not actually a legitimately terrible person - ‘redemption arc / he was good the whole time / he always had the potential to be good, but the crabs held him back or treated him poorly’ not acceptable
  • Keep the Declan relationship with the FFs
  • Don’t reject the non-linearity of crabs lore
  • If there is a redemption arc, it would need to be really hard and difficult, not something that could just happen right away
  • Removing Tillman’s flaws makes him inherently less interesting
  • Don’t use death/resurrection to justify making Tillman good
  • An IRM version of Tillman where he came back totally wrong and flipped, Uncanny Valley ish, would work. Do not add this to a pre-existing version though, it must be stand alone
  • Using death as a means to romanticize trauma and turn him into a good person via that experience is not acceptable

Suggestions

  • Make Tillman really insufferable about coming back from the dead; he was validated in being who he is
  • Structurally: Tillman IRM, Tillman random vignettes, Tillman linear section
  • We think that Valentine Games' page is an ideal example

Other Notes

  • We know other teams don't lean on the IRM nearly as much as the crabs do. Feel free to create new IRM entries as fits your team. If you wanted Tillman that focuses more on the thief angle, Ghost Tillman that haunts random fans to pitch(!), Tillman but he came back really small and can be stepped on, Just Bread etc.
  • If you're team is more into linear lore, feel free to pick a single version that you like/that fits well with your team, and mainly use/reference that when writing fics and stuff. We would however prefer that the wiki page doesn't have a single canonical version. It's a big part of how we like to do characters, and it would feel like a rewrite to decide on a wiki-definitive version.
  • A lot of these notes are because they've been on the team since season 1 and has become a decent part of our memes/culture. We're excited to see your new takes/additions on the character and how they change going forward. Even if takes a bit, we hope you grow to enjoy our meme trash goblin son.

thoughts on phrasing

i don't wanna say "100% non-negotiable" for most of these things, i think we're all more than happy to have a conversation about these things and see what feels right. especially with use of the IRM, few things are truly non-negotiable. tillman is just a very strongly defined character and with that there is a lot of inertia involved in changing his direction, because i'm not just wrestling with "the things i as a writer want tillman henderson to be" but with "the things tillman henderson already is" and charting a character arc that can respect the latter will not be impossible but will be, imo, require time and work on both our part as narrators and his part within the narrative -1p 1plum (talk) 15:50, 18 October 2020 (UTC)

IRM: Hillman Tenderson

Hillman Tenderson is a sheep herder from northern Baltimore county and a blaseball player for the Baltimore Crabs. He bats with his shepherd's crook. He got into blaseball originally to advertise his farm's wool, sporting hand-knit socks with slogans on them. I don't know how much more I can squeeze out of this one-note joke, but the important thing is that nowhere in the IRM entry do I acknowledge the fact that I've spoonerized his name. looking for permission to add some of the IRM pages

i know this is a hell of a time for y'all and you have to juggle the ascension and the election and this whole transfer at the same time. as a followup to yesterday's conversation about reformatting the page and getting all the proper stuff up on the IRM and such, i just wanted to check in since there's mixed signals between "wiki moratorium" and "get tillman lore up ASAP" - i'm happy to hold off another day or two before throwing up some more tillman content but i don't want the conversation about the direction of the page to go on without me if i'm stepping back from the wiki until the ascension has settled is all! thanks for all yr hard work. 1plum (talk) 17:54, 18 October 2020 (UTC)
