We now know at least part of what happens when a formerly incinerated player is brought back: Jaylen Hotdogfingers has indeed rejoined the Seattle Garages, at the expense of Mike Townsend. Jaylen Lore additions: Ruby Tuesday and beyond

Those of us in the Garages discord would like to make an addition to Jaylen's lore. A summary of what we want to add is:

For Season 7, she had no control over her hit by pitcher, aka "bean" balls, and after seeing the causes of her actions on Ruby Tuesday, this wrecked her emotionally. Her arm was possessed whenever it happened, working at the whims of the gods. She approached the microphone after season 7 asking for a deal, a way out of directly causing death. The microphone agreed, giving her agency over her beaning and changed her powers from instability to flickering. So, for season 8, the mic simply took to asking her that a number of beans happen per game, and left her to it.

This gives Jaylen a good mix of emotions and narrative beats that feel in line with her character. We are also currently drafting ideas about her motivations for leaving the team, should that happen with her Flickering status. Thoughts are welcome and appreciated! Update: We have decided on what we would like Jaylen's reaction to flickering and leaving the team would be:

" After the events of the Season 8 leaderboard left Jaylen in a state of permanently flickering, Jaylen took the news surprisingly well. When asked about her thoughts on the matter, she had this to say.

"These last few seasons have been... a lot, as you can imagine. The team doesn't feel the same to me now. Nothing really feels the same. So, maybe instead of trying to find comfort in a place that is no longer home, it's time I found myself elsewhere. Stretch my legs, see some sights, jam with some new people. The microphone has plans for me, and if that means not incinerating people, I'm going to follow them, best I can. Let's see where this takes me. *laughs* I'm trying to lean into this whole chaos thing, is it working?"

When asked if her plans to travel were to avoid the debt she is collecting, she declined to comment. "

This gives Jaylen a good narrative to leave the team on. StarNavigator (talk)
