Crosspost: Addition to Dark Seattle Corporates IRM found documents page

1
Peaksykid (talkcontribs)

Hi! Crossposting from Topic:Wqtq5fwgzvuj5n0f on the Dark Seattle Corporates page. I'm hoping to install an IRM page compiling some lore about the versions of Garages and former Garages in the Dark Seattle universe onto the Dark Seattle Corporates page.

I've created a sample entry for Jaylen here based on some existing lore about her Mirrorside equivalent having prosthetic hands and being an advertising representative. This would be going on the Corporates page in a Vignette irm, not on Jaylen's wiki page itself.

Add a link to Ruby Tuesday

Spacegandalf (talkcontribs)

Is it possible to add a link to the Ruby Tuesday page in the Debt Collection section? Like for example: On Season 7, Day 32, in the Tigers vs. Moist Talkers game, which was later known as Ruby Tuesday, a chain of incinerations...

Or I guess since Ruby Tuesday is technically game 32 AND 33, that could be re-worded to indicate that? Perhaps: The effect of the Unstable modifier became clear during Season 7, Day 32-33, which was later known as Ruby Tuesday.

Link with Fitzgerald Wanderlust

Crab (talkcontribs)

Jaylen Hotdogfingers is mentioned on Wanderlust's proposed page update (found here: Topic:Wclabnjil5m7th9g) as the shared recipient of the Garages' joint happy-trails celebration and welcome party when she swapped with Wanderlust.

The relevant section is:

In Season 17, a Feedback Storm appeared mid-game. With the Garages’ active pitcher Jaylen Hotdogfingers still suffering from extreme susceptibility to Feedback, a swap happened in just the first inning, sending Hotdogfingers to Charleston once again. He weathered the storm well; although the Garages would go on to lose the game, she threw eight strikeouts and allowed only four runs. The team threw a joint party the day after, wishing happy trails for Hotdogfingers and cheering Wanderlust’s arrival at the same time.

At the end of Season 17, the Mechanics helped Jaylen analyze the Flickeriiing that had plagued her for over a decade.

Jaylen now sports a green glowing regulator hairclip that helps her control her Flickeriiing (and the know-how to transform it into a tie or a pin if it might look better on a given outfit).

Ornithomancy (collective IRM IF-13.1.12-D)

3
RareBirdAlert (talkcontribs)

I write IRM entries for Magic players that are essentially scrying notes into a universe where they're birds, under the IF-13.1.12-D tag (IF BIRD). The first time Jaylen visited Yellowstone, I wrote one for her, but I hesitated about trying to post it. Now that she's back for another breather, I'd like to add it to her page in some way. Typically with Magic players I simply install them as IRM entries, but a different approach seems to be in order for Jaylen. I'd like some assistance navigating it and adding this content to her page, perhaps as a standalone separate page that is linked from one of the Magic sections about her career? The content I want to add is below:

-- Ornithomantic Assignation

A scrap of distressed parchment is inscribed in chromatic ink by the Augur’s hand

A collection of these notes was located in a file cabinet within the Yellowstone National Park Ballpark offices, all sharing a similar handwriting and purpose. Each note describes a member of the Yellowstone Magic, in synchronicity with a known reality counterpart, but as a particular species of bird. It remains unclear why the Augur is scrying these particular ornithomancies and what purpose they may serve, but the findings are dutifully recorded and cataloged when new ones are discovered.

Scrying target: Jaylen Hotdogfingers (the in/famous) Ornithomantic assignation: wandering albatross (Diomedea exulans) - perhaps one of the most storied, versed, and misunderstood birds upon the wind. I must act quickly. The subject’s aura still interacts with high excitability to instances of Feedback. But where to begin, on a target so known? As always, perhaps, with the initial assessment. The wandering albatross - largest of its kind, greatest wingspan of any extant unaltered bird. Legendary. Yes, I will say it, of subject and avian both - legendary. For good and ill, oft simultaneously. The albatross seeks to roam the open ocean, traveling incredible distance with not a single stroke of its wings. Thus, this albatross in particular is called the wandering, and the name is doubly appropriate for this subject. Upon it have the masses impressed their wild beliefs: that it is a revenant of the departed, that it indicates a good omen that becalmed winds will rise again, that it is an ill omen of disaster soon to befall those who look upon it. And most notably, that it is a curse, a burden of the psyche, the weight of sins made manifest, an albatross around the neck. I would be so bold to assume that others have seen her in this manner. And yet does the albatross wander onward. What it seeks is unknown but to its own heart, and it may go thousands upon thousands of miles in its flight. Yet even the albatross comes to land sometimes, and of all birds, the albatross is perhaps one of the best-known for its philopatry, its unerring loyalty to the place of its origin, returning to the very same place it stood when it first took wing.

If this were a typical ornithomancy, here I would divine such interactions of note. Yet here, I would only say: look upon the albatross with unclouded eyes, and the winds upon which it soars, and bid this weary wanderer fair winds for its travels.

This ornithomancy is notable for being recorded in its entirety. --

this is super cool!! i would love to see it posted as a full IRM entry like the others!

TwoHeadedButt (talkcontribs)

Hi, this is super neat! We've discussed it and think that the best way to incorporate it would be to add it as a section on the IF-13.1.12-D page and link to it via an addition to her "Career with the Magic" section. I've proposed a potential such addition below--feel free to use it or write your own! (You'll be able to link to her section of the page directly once it's on there; I just linked to the page for now.) Cheers :)

Scrying notes recorded by Yellowstone's resident ornithomancer during Hotdogfingers's time in the Parkpark can be found at IF-13.1.12-D.

Feedback Swap With the Hawai'i Fridays

Summary by TwoHeadedButt

"Career with the Fridays" section added to page.

Li0ness (talkcontribs)

On day 56 of season 12, a feedback swap happened in the top of the 1st inning in a game between the Hawai'i Fridays and the Yellowstone Magic. James Mora was swapped from the Hawai'i Fridays to the Yellowstone Magic. Jaylen Hotdogfingers was swapped from the Yellowstone Magic to the Hawai'i Fridays.

This is intended as a jumping off point for the topic of information and lore surrounding Jaylen's move to the Fridays.

Eric O. (talkcontribs)

James Mora, having been on the Fridays since the beginning, has been through a lot, but has found a great sense of peace with the rest of the team. Content, but perhaps a little too content; Mora has a slowly growing itch to explore and see more of what Blaseball has to offer. During the game, Jimmy looks across the field, and sees Jaylen, clearly better than she has been, but in her eyes he sees there's still turmoil. And for just a brief moment, Mora thinks "I wish Jaylen could feel as at peace as I have with the Fridays." Our Lady appears to Jimmy, says "Granted", and nudges Mora over towards the Magic.

Dontrush (talkcontribs)

I love this. I would maybe add something about Mora’s wish being amplified by the feedback, which would tie the event back into the weather condition.

Dontrush (talkcontribs)

A further proposal to cover her time with the Fridays:

During her time with the Fridays, Jaylen formed an unlikely bond with Stevenson Heat, who had lost one of his closest companions in Jimmy Mora to Jaylen’s feedback swap. She was drawn to Heat’s quiet nature at first, as he never forced small talk or asked many questions, preferring instead to nap in his hammock. The two would be seen eating some of Stevenson’s famous beans together, often without speaking a single word.

With Jaylen’s help, the Fridays placed atop the Mild Low in season 12, earning a postseason birth. With the Fridays on the verge of elimination after Heat pitched a game two loss, Jaylen stepped up to the mound against her former team, the Seattle Garages. She held off a comeback in the bottom of the 9th to keep the Fridays alive and earn them their second ever postseason win, following Heat’s season 9 wild card win. This was her first ever postseason win against the Garages.

TwoHeadedButt (talkcontribs)

Hey Fridays! Went ahead and combined these into a proposed Fridays section, edited for wiki voice. Let me know what you think!

On Day 56 of Season 12, Hotdogfingers opened the game pitching for the Yellowstone Magic against the Hawai'i Fridays. James "Jimmy" Mora, a rotation pitcher for the Fridays since Season 1, found himself contemplating her time in the league as well as hir own as he watched her take the mound. Mora was later quoted in an interview as saying:

So, I've been here since the beginning, right? And I've been through a lot, but I’ve found this great sense of peace with the rest of the team. I’m content. But—maybe a little too content, y'know? And lately I've been feeling this sort of… this itch to explore, to see more of what Blaseball has to offer.
So this game I look across the field, and I see Jaylen Hotdogfingers, right? And she's been through a lot, too. And she's clearly better than, you know, she has been… But in her eyes, I can see, there's still turmoil. And so, just for one moment, I think, 'I wish Jaylen could feel as at peace as I have with the Fridays.' And when I thought that, well, Our Lady—that's Our Lady of Perpetual Friday—appeared to me and said "Granted," and nudged me toward the mound.

Some have theorized that Mora's wish was amplified by the Feedback weather, as well as potentially by the unexplained time-altering phenomena occurring in the Sovereign Nation of Hawai'i, rumored to be caused by the mysterious Our Lady of Perpetual Friday. Whatever the cause may have been, Mora and Hotdogfingers switched teams within a minute of play commencing. Though sad to see their longtime pitcher depart, the Fridays sent hir off with their best wishes and offered Hotdogfingers a warm welcome to the team, inviting her to "c'mere and vibe".

During her time with the Fridays, Hotdogfingers formed an unlikely bond with Stevenson Heat, who had lost one of his closest companions in Mora to Hotdogfingers's feedback swap. Hotdogfingers was drawn to Heat's quiet nature, as he never forced small talk or asked many questions, preferring instead to nap in his hammock. The two were frequently seen eating some of Stevenson's famous beans together, often without speaking a single word.

With Hotdogfingers's help, the Fridays placed atop the Mild Low in Season 12, earning a postseason birth. With the Fridays on the verge of elimination after Heat pitched a Game 2 loss, Hotdogfingers stepped up to the mound against her former team, the Seattle Garages. She held off a comeback in the bottom of the 9th to keep the Fridays alive and earn them their second ever postseason win, following Heat's win in the Season 9 Wild Card Series. This was Hotdogfingers's first ever postseason win against the Garages.

Cats!

Razura (talkcontribs)

Jaylen's cats have been mentioned for a while and I've talked about them in the Garage and with the Lovers, figured it'd be a nice addition to her page. Looking at adding a section beneath Messages from the Hall.

Razura (talkcontribs)

This is the gist of everything. I'm still setting up Ron's Cafe page. Current draft is simply the following:

Jaylen’s Cats

During her first life, Jaylen Hotdogfingers lived with her two cats, Cream Cheese and Caramelized Onions. After her incineration, they were taken in by Oliver Mueller for a time, until the opening of the Ron Monstera Memorial Cat Cafe and Sanctuary which served as a more enriching environment and shelter for the pair.

After her resurrection, Jaylen has been eager to retrieve her cats, however the events of the Discipline Era combined with her Fliickerrriiing status had made her reluctant to take them back due to uncertain housing stability. She makes sure to visit them any time that she is in Seattle. Mike Townsend has been spotted smuggling the pair under a large jacket in order for them to visit her and the cat-loving Lovers in San Francisco.

When asked to describe her cats, Hotdogfingers excitedly pulled out her phone, saying: “Ok, so here are the pictures. Cream is like Snowball, you know, from Neko Atsume? Very mellow. Onions, Onions is so sweet, but absolutely insatiable. Like Bolt!” She then discussed her cats and the video game Neko Atsume for another hour.

Move to Yellowstone

A stint in San Francisco and a decade-long slumber proved remarkably refreshing and healing for Hotdogfingers, who eventually felt confident enough to strike out on her own and explore the world of her own accord, for once. Recognizing the importance of Yellowstone's circle of mages in her past, she reached out to the Magic to inquire about the possibility of an exchange.

Fellow friend-of-birds Yeong-Ho Garcia took her up on the offer, loading their grandmother's cat into their catpack of holding, and setting course for San Francisco. They high-fived through the window as their Greyhound buses passed on Highway 93.

Upon arrival at the Parkpark, Hotdogfingers was immediately greeted and accepted by Garcia's resident flock of crows, and was warmly welcomed by the rest of the team. Bevan Wise has taken charge of her magical education, introducing her to the concepts behind the necromancy which forever changed her (un)life. Chorby Short and Logan Rodriguez introduced her to the park and its many trails and secluded areas, seemingly uncaring of -- or oblivious to -- her identity.

Oh, yer famous? Nah, we already had a Famous around here.
-- Logan Rodriguez

Hotdogfingers' newfound anonymity has allowed her to grow and move forward, discovering not just who she is but who she wants to be. The jury is still out on that one, but as she says, "I'll know it when I hit it-- oh gods, no, not like a bean ball, wait, come back!"

Razura (talkcontribs)

Wow. This is great actually! Y'all are doin' such good work.

AlexKitfox (talkcontribs)

Very good! A fitting send-off for Jaylen from the Lovers.

Link (talkcontribs)

This is a great vibe, I'm here for it. We're still fleshing out the Garcia lore for joining the Lovers so we may request to throw a line or two in there once we have that settled, but otherwise this is exactly what we'd want for Jaylen's journey. :D

Beowulf (talkcontribs)

I love this so much, and the touch about the greyhound bus high five is so good!!

Phasmantistes (talkcontribs)

Thanks for the love, everyone! It's been 24 hours, so moving this to the main article!
