Pedro Davids is gay.
Davids and Valentine Games were longtime pen pals before joining the league. Both have stated that they continued to write letters to each other despite the frequency with which they saw each other in person as members of the Baltimore Crabs. As Valentine's career took them further from Baltimore their correspondence continued, a comforting constant in an everchanging league.
After Valentine Games was made legendary Davids still writes to Games, although no longer expecting an answer.
Crabs Poet Laureate Runolfio Peeper wrote the following about Davids:

When asked about this sudden daring choice Pedro replied, “In Crabs I do rejoice! I seek to marry knowledge from my studies Into communion with my ten-legged buddies.”
Now, on the field Davids is the man Whose back is tied unto his caravan. So in the Crabitat or Astrolome On any blaseball field, Pedro’s home.
Pedro Davids originally came to Baltimore to research the Olde One and the process of Carcinization I in Baltimore. When everyone turned on the Olde one Davids was conflicted. This is what he'd been studying, this is what he came to Baltimore for, but he couldn't help her, and he couldn't help his teammates and friends because doing so, supporting either side, would invalidate his research.
Since he couldn't insert himself into the act without spoiling the work he had been doing over the last decade all he could do was watch and take notes. This is why he insists on the carpool to pick everyone up for games or road trips - He couldn't protect them in that moment but he can from thereon out. He still feels connected to the Olde One and takes on her role of keeping watch over the city.
Pedro Davids played blaseball as a child in the Mexican blittle leagues for years before giving up on his chances at big league play to “do the right thing” and buckling down to serious work. He was eventually forced to significantly rewrite it while working off hours at the Tortugranja on Isla Mujeres to cover his bills.
He heard about the new league opening up in the States and realized that this would be his last and only chance to play in the big leagues. Taking everything he owned and throwing it into an old rented trailer, he drove his old Ford north all the way to wikipedia:Matamoros,_Tamaulipas|Matamorros when his drive shaft broke on a pothole. So close to his goal but held back by cruel fate once again, with a mighty cry he lifted up the trailer on his own shoulders and pulled it bodily across the border before passing out along the coastline south of wikipedia:Galveston,_Texas|Galveston, where The Olde One|tiny claws bore him into the sea, eventually to emerge as a lineup player for the Baltimore Crabs.
Pedro Davids is a biological and cultural anthropologist, as well as a player for the Baltimore Crabs. After visiting Baltimore when he was young, Davids took the opportunity to return during his postdoctoral research on the migration habits of cultists of local mythical being Baltimore_Crabs#The_Olde_One |The Olde One. While in Baltimore he attended a try-out for the Baltimore Crabs, earning a position on the team.
To show his team spirit (and feel closer to The Olde One), Pedro Davids began channeling the humble Hermit Crab by carrying a caravan home on his back at all times. Though the crushing 1560kg weight slightly impedes David’s speed, it does protect him from predators and means he never feels homesick.
Davids parks in a shallow lagoon formed from the footprint of one of the Crabitat's legs, where a number of mobile homes of various size and make rust in the brackish shallows. He enjoys fixing them up as a hobby alongside his own home, and may trade into different makes and models if he has to dress for an occasion. He can fix up a car that's been flooded in saltwater in a matter of hours, while it's still underwater, and often talks shop with Sutton Dreamy who is more interested in imported motorcycles.
He is in charge of the Crabs' carpool program. Emerging from his car pool to go on a morning run, Davids will regularly pick up team members who risk a life outside the safety of the Crabitat. Tillman Henderson, despite often vacationing outside Baltimore, is banned from the carpool program, and he knows what he did.
