Gunther "Strike-Out!" O'Brian is a pitcher for the Charleston Shoe Thieves.

O'Brian replaced pitcher Matteo "The" Prestige after the latter was delaced mid-game in Season 3. Gunther is one of few zero star players in the league, allowing 18 points in the six innings he played in his debut game. This reversed the Shoe Thieves' current 10-3 lead and set a new record of 21 runs scored against the Shoe Thieves. His lack of pitching ability may be the due to him not having human hands, as he is a penguin. Gunther can sometimes be seen placing the blaseball between his legs, as though it were an egg needing to be kept warm, and has to be reminded to pitch. Despite his shortcomings, fellow Shoe Thieves have showered the bird with love and affection stating "He makes an excellent distraction!" and "Hey, he loves shoes, what more do you want from him?"

Gunther has earned the nickname "Strike-Out!" as a result of the celebration on the rare occasion that he gets one.
