B.A.C.K

B.A.C.K. stands for Bureau of Archive Collection and Knowledge and is a loosely-connected research organization in the Core.

F.R.O.N.T

F.R.O.N.T. stands for Field Research Of Native Terrain and hosts biologists and ecologists that seek to categorize forms of life and life-adjacent entities of the Core. Many of these are categorized in the Core Bestiary.

C.E.N.T.E.R.

C.E.N.T.E.R. stands for Core Exploration Navigation Tracking E_____ Recapture and is responsible for the exploration of dangerous or unexplored regions of the Core. CENTER is one of the oldest major departments within the Core, as the shifting spatial topology requires constant exploration. They are highly trained individuals, outfitted with state of the art equipment and skills in order to navigate unknown and potentially hazardous areas. While their goal is exploration, their primary focus is 'clearing' paths through the unknown in order for other departments to follow up on. Secondary goals include tracking, recapturing, and protecting the Core from hostile entities, whatever they may be. No one knows what the E stands for, having been redacted since time immemorial.

Their signature equipment is the Mk5 Pattern Sealed Environmental Suit, a heavily padded and armored hardsuit that is able to protect the wearer from a variety of possible hazards as well as being outfitted with a sophisticated sensor suite and movement system. While each suit is customized to the wearer, they do have some standardization to ensure a level of protection across the team.

L.E.F.T.

L.E.F.T. stand for Literally Everyone Fights Tyrants and represents the inner drive of every denizen of the Core to contest injustice.

R.I.G.H.T.

R.I.G.H.T. stands for Regular Investigation of Gargantuan Threats and control some of the 'larger' menaces present in the Core. The Core is often home to highly dangerous entities that can pose a risk to entire townships and yet are crucial to the overarching mechanisms that the Mechanics are themselves attempting to fix. RIGHT was established in order to track these entities, document findings, and monitor them for any dangerous behavior. While they often never interact with the entity they are tracking, they are authorized to help steer away entities from populated regions.

Their signature equipment is a jump pack and long-fall boots, designed to rapidly transverse across the terrain in both Downwell and Null-G environments.

U.P.

U.P. stands for Unexplained Phenomena and oversees the study and control of supernatural and impossible objects and creatures found surprisingly commonly in the Core. While there are many research focused departments in the Core, UP specializes in dealing, documenting, and experimenting with anomalous objects and phenomena. They are a decentralized organization, often having multiple sub-fields and labs around the Core that each specialize in their own subgroup of research. While ensuring the safety of the Core and it's denizens is the top priority for them, they are often willing to use and share objects that have been cleared by them, even if the mechanism behind them isn't fully understood yet

UP personnel have no standardized equipment, but often will carry lots of field analysis tools with them such as spectrographs, household microscopes, tuning forks, spare geologists' tongues, cameras, and notepads to doodle and write things down with.

D.O.W.N

D.O.W.N stands for the Department Of Workplace Non-injury and serves to prevent and treat damage to the many mechanics at the Core.

C.O.R.N.E.R.S.

C.O.R.N.E.R.S stands for Couriers On Route Non-Euclidean Receivers and Scouts and maintains the mobility of packages of products and data throughout the Core.
