The Zxes is a small creature that likes to eat iron and secrete rust. It is a regular annoyance within some workshops, and an infestation is hard to get rid of once it's settled in and began nesting in a pile of nuts and bolts.
Appearance
The Zxes has a similar appearance to a common dormouse, but with pincers coming from around its nose, and moist spikes on its back similar to a hedgehog. These moist spikes are part of what rusts the iron, as well as allowing a Zxes to remain away from a source of water for months at a time without dehydrating. They can grow up to 4 inches in length, though are generally between 2 and 3 inches before splitting.
Behaviour
A lone Zxes will crawl through small gaps in workshop walls, searching for a dark secluded box of spare parts to nest in. There, it will begin rusting the materials it finds and gather up enough energy to split into two - and thus increase its population. A mechanic is recommended to regularly shine bright lights on all boxes of spare parts in case a Zxes has decided to try sneaking in, as once a Zxes population gets past 5 or 6 it rapidly becomes a very difficult problem to solve.
Rumours
There are rumours that a Zxes once ate a Titanium mechanism. Reports are unconfirmed.
