Revision as of 21:27, 15 October 2020

Popping this here so I can transfer it between devices later: There is a pit in East Utah Called Hellmouth, and the Sun has drawn the doomed into many a poor team Dear Sol, we know, we're one

Hendricks was a lecturer 'gainst capitalism, he preached But his trust-fund blood gave way to gold When he joined the old Sunbeams

And the only thing a village needs Is a goose to strike the ball But Bishop's only satisfied When chaos befouls us all

Oh Castillo, tell your lovers Not to do what we have done It's not safe, and none of us are welcome In Hellmouth of the Rising Sun

Hahn's got one foot in the garden And another on the quay And she'll be back soon in Miami, we hope And of the Tug, she'll be free

There is a mouth in East Utah Called Hellmouth, and the Sun has drawn the doomed into many a poor team Dear Sol, we know, we're one Dear Sol, we know, we're the one

Rivalry - needs to be updated.

So! It's been mentioned a lot as of recent that the hellmouth sunbeams' rivalry section is wrong.

The general consensus on discord is that we are:

Rivals with everyone, in a way that shonen rivals are rivals with each other. If I can work out how to, I'm going to attach some photoshops of pictures that we have come up with to describe how we are rivals. Because beams are very bad at rivalling people.

We also have one, maybe two "anti-rivals", aka people that we *know* we like so they are not rivals! Clearly! And that is the Tigers and the Magic. Again, if I can work out how to attach image links to the talk page I'll find more pictures of this. But this should be modified.

An image on a white background of Fireman Sam in a gold decorated picture frame. A badly photoshoppped cartoon sun has loveingly placed a translucent yellow hand on the picture frame. There are two captions, in the top left "One day, my dearly detested. My closest enemy, we will meet again. And when we do..." The bottom right caption states "You will not be able to hide from me, horrid owner of my heart. The sun will find you."
Propaganda from the Season 10 Rivalry between Firefighters and Sunbeams that flared up after a disagreement over who should get the Nut and Cream blessings.
A photoshopped image of Seto Kaiba from the manga Yu-Gi-Oh, with his head replaced with the emoji :sun-with-face:. In the first panel, on the right, he says "Mheheh..." "Heh..." "Fighting you again". In the second panel, it zooms in closer on his face, with him saying "...Makes my heart beat faster."
The Sunbeams are very good at rivalry.

Also, it'd be good to mention that we hate all gods, not just 'God himself'.

Rivalry Update Proposal

Change: Friends to be Tigers and Magic, Rivals to be Firefighters and Garages

Change Rivalries section to be an entire section.

The Sunbeams have a complicated relationship with rivalries. Rivalry involves wistfully watching their rivals matches, hoping to face them in battle once again. Rivalry involves fiercely defending a rival from others, because only You are allowed to defeat them. Rivalry involves being unable to think of anyone other than the rival, and on dark nights wondering if they're staring into the same sun, cursing your name.

Rivalry also arises from competing for something, and in the case of Blaseball the Sunbeams are competing with the rest of the league. Therefore, everyone is a rival. This results in teams falling into one of four categories: Ambivalent Rivals, Rival, Rivalliances, Anti-Rival.

Rivals:

Seattle Garages

The teams themselves do not have a rivalry, but many fans that follow HELIOATRY clash with fans of the Seattle Garages. The Garages have a stated intention to kill the sun, which is considered blasphemy. This rivalry is most clearly seen in the events surrounding The Solympic Flame.

Chicago Firefighters

After the Chicago Firefighters got into the Season 9 playoffs as the Wild Card, the Firefighters threatened to put out the sun. And from this one fateful message, a beautiful rivalry was forged, with the two fighting hard over who would get the Season 10 nut button, the Firefighters threatening to destroy the sun, and the Sunbeams insisting the sun would consume Chicago.

Rivalliances:

- Wild low <description of wild low sticking together>

Anti Rivals:

Tigers

The first of the Sunbeams Anti-Rivals, the Hades Tigers. The two feel a kinship, with the Tigers being from Hades and the Sunbeams dealing with the Hellmouth. Whenever the two teams play each other, fans cheer on the opposing team and can often be heard shouting "TIGERBEAMS!". Both teams believe that when one team wins, both wins, and both teams are regularly seen adding the two's scores together into one number to proclaim how well TIGERBEAMS have been doing.

Magic

The Yellowstone Magic and Sunbeams partnership is best described as a match made in hell. The two teams have very similar vibes, and are regularly seen getting up to all sorts of nonsense together. Fans of the two teams are known to cheer HELLOWMOUTH as a greeting, which is answered with shouts of YELLMOUTH, before the shouts and cheers dissolve into eldritch screeching as the fans embrace and excitedly summon horrific beings to have tea parties with.

Ambivalent Rivals:

- The rest of the league.
