A Mother’s Love

After York’s death, Mrs. Silk did not mourn. Instead she put her time and energy into something more productive. She planned. There are many entities in the immaterial plane who have the power to raise the dead. She knew this, and yet she knew even more so that binding her son to one of these could only end in his downfall. Instead she did what she had to do, and found her own way to tap into the hall, into the entities that surround this place, and into the powers they held. By making use of her intimate knowledge of REDACTED she was able to combine the spirits REDACTED with the underlying concepts of REDACTED in a way that has never been seen before, and will likely not be seen again.

While the details are known only to her, it seems that Mrs. Silk was successful in her quest. York Silk was returned to the immaterial plane, and gods know what the cost might be for the rest of us.

No More Heroes

When York returned to play he was surprised to find Nagomi McDaniel on the roster. While she sought him out immediately York kept his distance. It had been a long time since they played together in Hawai’i and a lot had happened since then. As York put it “I’m not a kid anymore Nagomi”. As difficult as it was, Nagomi recognized the importance of letting York have his space, and while she still watched over him, she did it from afar. While York could accept this, what he really hoped for was the day where they could be a part of this game as equals.

In an attempt to move out and gain some independence, York underwent the storied tradition of apartment hunting. After a month of unsuccessful showings and several Crabs offering him a place to stay, York finally found a room for rent in an unassuming apartment building in downtown Baltimore. After signing his lease he discovered that his neighbors included Bevan Underbuck and Enid Marlow who were rooming together in the off-season as well as the entire Baltimore Crabs pitching rotation, who seemed to be staying with Brock Forbes and Adalberto Tosser. While there was a great deal of embarrassment on everyone’s part, York did quickly learn to appreciate having Finn James occasionally crashing in his bathtub, or opening his hall closet to find Jacoby Podcast had made it into a recording booth. Sometimes growing up means moving out, but it never means going through it alone.
