Season Overview

The Magic ended Season 8 with a resoundingly bad 29-70 record, the worst in the league by a wide margin. However, the team benefited from Enhanced Party Time, with four players partying in the remainder of the season.

In the election, the Magic were the highest bidders for the New Kid blessing with 18% of the vote, which ultimately went to the Seattle Garages and incinerated Ron Monstera. Luckily, the Magic won a blessing, their first since Season β1: the Lottery Pick blessing, which brought the 14th most-idolized player onto the Magic.

The blessing dovetailed with a fan-led plan: Operation Umbramancy, to get a player from the shadows onto the idol board. Spearheaded by fans of the Hellmouth Sunbeams, and with approval from the Seattle Garages, the plan resulted in Garages shadow player Chorby Short being in the prize spot. As a result, Short joined the Magic's lineup in exchange for Magic hitter Terrell Bradley. Short would go on to become a fan favorite and iconic player.
