The Underbracket

(Redirected from Underbracket)

The Underbracket is a Decree that passed in the Season β19 Election, allowing losing teams to compete in a losers tournament, with the goal to lose enough games to un-lose The Underbracket.

The Underbracket was active from the start of Season 20 until Season 24, Day 44, when it was Nullified by the Black Hole (Black Hole).

History

In Season 19, The Underbracket was offered as one of two possible Decrees the community could vote on, with the top voted Decree going into effect. Season 19 notably began with one a single decree that could be voted for, seemingly added by the Boss:

With the appearance of the Reader at the Earlsiesta, the following additional Decree was added:

  • Under Achiever: unwin the underbracket. crown the underchampions.

Under Achiever passed with 8,437,909 Votes, 73%[1] of all Decree Votes, and the following message:

  • THE MIRROR DOUBLES
    DIVIDES
    ADVANCING LOSSES
    SPINNING VICTORY
    END OVER END
  • UNWIN THE UNDERBRACKET

Underchampions

Starting from Season 20, each Season had both an Overbracket Champion and an Underbracket Champion.

Season β21 Hellmouth Sunbeams
Season β22 Miami Dale

Nullification

On Day 44 of Season 24, Alexandria Rosales of the Houston Spies nullified The Underbraket by scoring ten runs under the Black Hole (Black Hole).

  1. This is notably not the most decisive Decree Vote in Blaseball, with that title going to the Enhanced Party Time Decree in Season β6 that passed with 77% of votes. This is because Turntables made winning games undesirable, which many fans agreed was "kind of terrible"
  2. The Nullification of Blaseball by the Black Hole (Black Hole) resulted in no Underchampion being named in Season 24
